"So what you think, Lupin?" asked Jigen.
"The demonstration of the Stargate could have been faked," said Lupin. "Though if anyone was going to pull a scam of this level off, you'd think it was me. Nobody else has that level of 'slick'."
"She knows more than she's telling, this 'Setsuna Meiou' - but her credentials all check out," pointed out Fujiko.
"Going to work with us on this, Fujiko-chan?" asked Lupin hopefully.
"Maybe," admitted Fujiko. "I'm not convinced she was completely forward with us, but if this does work..."
"Then we have the bad guys to rip off, who have enslaved entire worlds and made off with their riches," pointed out Lupin. "Imagine what kinds of riches we could get for just some bits of alien technology here on Earth."
"Sounds like you've made up your mind," noted Jigen.
"Oh, I'll play along for now," agreed Lupin, "things were getting boring."
"Hmph," said Goemon, keeping his own counsel on this matter.
Inspector Zenigata wondered about this newest development. Lupin's trail had vanished yet again - not unusual in itself. What was strange was that the last time he'd been seen it had been at a place called Giza. Goemon had apparently returned to Japan, while Jigen had vanished with Lupin.
Sticking an unlit cigarette in his mouth, the Interpol inspector sat next to a display of the Pharoahs and wondered if perhaps Lupin had heard about some unspoiled tomb in the area. THAT would certainly intrigue Lupin but there would have to be an expedition hired and he'd gone through all the likely sources and turned up nothing.
Lupin was out there somewhere though. It wasn't like he could vanish off the face of the Earth...
Lupin smirked behind the wheel of his little mini. Twisted up in his normal position, Jigen was riding shotgun while Goemon sat impassively in the back.
Fujiko revved her motorcycle a little, face unreadable behind her helmet.
One after the other, the little red indicators popped up to "lock in" the symbols. The Stargate formed its vortex, then the rippling sheet of "water" that marked the terminus.
Car, then motorcycle, slowly entered the Stargate. A few moments later, the Gate cut off and Setsuna Meiou sat back and regarded it with a smirk.
