It wasn't a complete failure, but from the way the lighting had shifted to a pulsing red and the area around the Gates had shuddered and lurched - it wasn't a complete success either.
plop!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" said Sailor Moon as a mazoku seed landed near the Gates.
"QUICK, SHOOT IT!" said a for-once-panicked Sailor Mercury. Something like that had managed to corrupt and bind several Generals of the Earth Kingdom, then do something similar to the experienced Sailor Pluto.
The mazoku seed hummed and lifted off the ground.
"BURNING MANDALA!"
"Silence Wall!"
"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
"Love And Beauty Shock!"
Dodging and weaving, the mazoku seed acted much like a panicky little yoma as it tried to find someone to infect or at least escape.
"dead scream"
"PLUTO?!" called out several of the Senshi, startled.
"Moon Crystal Heart Beat!" called out Sailor Moon, blinking as she realized she'd managed a new attack. One that apparently mimicked machine gun fire, or at least sent a stream of little pink crystalline hearts out.
"What is going on here?" asked Sailor Pluto, wondering why everyone was here.
"It's still moving. Pour it on!" instructed Sailor Mercury. "Mercury Aqua Rhapsody."
"BURNING MANDALA!"
"Silence Glaive Surprise!"
"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
"Love And Beauty Shock!"

"Moon Crystal Heart Beat!"
BOOM! went something beyond the open Gates.
"It's fast," said Jupiter, running around the Gate to get a bead on it.
"Let's get a crossfire going," suggested Venus.
"BURNING MANDALA!"
"Silence Glaive Surprise!"
"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
"Love And Beauty Shock!"
"dead scream"
"Moon Crystal Heart Beat!"
"Devastation Break!"
The Senshi blinked as someone had just added their own attack. A guy?!
"Ahem," said the guy. "We missed, ya know."
"This does not bode well," stated Pluto, wondering who the guy in partial armor was.
"Growf growfle," declared a somehow noble-looking panda. Maybe it was the French uniform, complete with flowing half-cape, looking sort of "Rose Of Versailles" meets "Animal Planet" or something.
"WTF?" asked Pluto, thinking this didn't sound at all right.
"He's right," realized Venus, pointing at the panda. "We have to coordinate our attack patterns!"
"Growfle growf," said the panda, putting a paw over his heart and pointing at the mazoku seed. "GROWF growf growfle!"
"That's right," said Venus, nodding. "For love, justice, and the sanctity of time - we must strike as one!"
"You understand that panda?" asked Pluto.
The mazoku seed was apparently understanding that it had one chance. It raced for freedom, through the Time Gate.
"BURNING MANDALA!"
"Silence Glaive Surprise!"
"Jupiter Oak Evolution!"
"Love And Beauty Shock!"
"dead scream"
"Moon Crystal Heart Beat!"
"Devastation Break!"
"GROWF gruu GROWF!"
KA-BOOM!
"We did it!" said Venus, pumping one arm and giving a "V" sign with the other.
Pluto eyed the panda and the boy, both apparently sneaking off, and tried to understand why they looked familiar.
