"OK, Mrs Dursley, I think I've got it. If you could just hold this for a moment?"
Petunia gingerly took the silver and black bracelet, holding it with just two fingers.
"...Ew. ...It tingles."
Traces of magical talent, right. Not enough, nor of the right kind for the conventional Wizarding schools to notice, but...
Setsuna looked at the bracelet, and concentrated.
"...Yes, now it ought to be all right. Will you try putting it on him, or shall I?"
"...Oh. Um, you do it, please? I don't know anything about this stuff..."
"Very well, Mrs Dursley, I'll put it on then, the first time. I think it'll be best if you practiced putting it on and taking it off, though?"
Petunia shrugged, dubiously.
"...I suppose so?"
"Alright, then. Harry Harry Harrykins, let's see how this fits you now..."
The bracelet, unsurprisingly, fit Harry Potter's small arm perfectly.
"OK then. Now we have to make sure this works, though...By your leave, Mrs Dursley?"
(Hey, come on, Setsuna, are you planning to just...)
(Sure, why not. Stop worrying so much, will you, Haruka? You'll get worry wrinkles, I just bet you would...)
(Oh, shut up, you)
Hmmm, hmmm, OK...
Setsuna carefully carried Harry into the middle of the kitchen. OK, this seemed about right.
"...We have to see if the "bounce-back" field and the "quick healing" and stuff are actually still working now, you see..."
Petunia blinked.
"What, you're just going to...drop him?"
"...It's only about a meter or so?"
"That's still pretty high for a baby!"
Well, yes, it would be quite a hight...if one was talking about non-Wizarding babies, that is.
"...What if I tried dropped him on top of the sofa, then?"
"...All right. Just let me get my poor Duddikins off..."
Do Not Spook The Petunia More Then She's Spooked Already, please, Setsuna?
(Told you so)
(Told me what? Shaddup, Haruka)
OK, then. One, two...
Harry Potter bounced quite satisfactorily, all things being considered. Almost all the way up to the ceiling, in fact.
"...Waaaaah! Aw aw aw..."
Petunia looked at her one and a half years old nephew screaming, and cringed. Dudley whimpered in his mother's arms, and put pudgy hands over his ears.
"OK, OK, I'll sorry baby, but that really had to be done..."
Oh wops, and here glows the bracelet...
"...Oh! ...Nothing's going boom. Or burning. Or freezing. ...Is it working?"
"It seems like it. Good. Ah, Mrs Dursley...I think it's best if I try to prick his arm with a needle or a pin now, if you don't mind..."
Petunia considered, and brought out a alcohol wipe. Ahh, right.
"OK, here goes..."
Harry cried even louder. Setsuna sighed. All right, you're upset, I get it, I get it...
"...One, two, three, four... All gone. A success!"
Petunia checked over her nephew's pudgy forearm, and nodded.
"..There's not even a mark left, is there?"
"Right. ...Um...Now is the time for you to try taking it off and putting in on, if you're going to do that...?..."
Petunia made a face, nodded, and gingerly put Dudley down on the sofa again.
"Just push at the clasp, like that..."
"Eww. It's...sticky."
"Oh? ...Like glue?"
"...Like magnets or something, I think...Oh. I got it!"
Petunia twirled the bracelet around her fingers.
"This is...too pretty, though. What if somebody tried to take it?"
"Oh, no problem...We can make it really, really unnoticeable. You'll be able to see it, because you know it's there and you're keyed to it, but other people probably wouldn't notice it at all, unless it was pointed out to them."
"...Oh. ...Good, then. Now how do I get it back on?"
"Just like a normal bracelet, Mrs Dursley."
"Alright, here goes...Is it still working?"
Setsuna checked.
"It seems like it."
"...Thank goodness."
Petunia sighed again, deeply.
Setsuna looked at Haruka, sighing.
(...Thank goodness is right. I have no idea what I would have done if that hadn't worked, frankly...)
Haruka snickered.
(Don't worry, you would have thought of something, I'm sure. ...What's going to happen to all the energy that thing is going to soak up, by the way?)
(Oh, this and that. Some of it is going into the "battery" in the bracelet, some of it is going to be channeled back into the Harry...I'm thinking that channeling part of it into some kind of generalized low-key "stabilizing" spell for everybody about him might be a good idea, though)
(Oh, the "bye-bye depression" stuff?)
(Just a general healing and wellbeing inducing spell, is all. I'm trying to think of stuff that has a very low chance of going wrong, all right?)
(Hmmmmph.)
Haruka sighed, too, then. She knew just as well as anybody else that there probably wasn't such a thing as something that couldn't go wrong, of course.
(OK then. About the rest of what we came here for...?...)
