Harry James Potter, age one-and-a-half, on the other hand, just glared.
"Want mama."
Well, yeah. It would have been nice all around if she wasn't sort of dead, kid.
The woman calling herself Setsuna Meiou for the moment--or rather "Sussanna Makepiece", actually---just sighed.
"Well, Mrs Dursley, it's like this...Our Firm has long considered the Potter family to be one of our most important clients--"
Well, considering that this version of "the Firm" had been more or less invented on the spot to deal with a certain Potter Problem, it wasn't really a lie, she supposed--
"And we've had a standing arrangement for us to, ahh, "help out" with any Potter children who happen to be orphaned or otherwise unable to be brought up by their, um, parents or--"closer" family, so to speak."
Well, if one could consider a certain conversation with a drunk-as-a-fish Potter ancester as "making an arrangement", that is...
Petunia Dursley wiped her face and blinked.
"Oh. ...So you're like the, uh, Potter family lawyers?"
"...Something like that, Mrs Dursley."
Setsuna smiled. *I am trustworthy. Rly*
"Oh. ....But the...Headmaster...?"
"Headmaster Dumbledore does not know everything, though he does try to make everybody else think otherwise. And anyway--an old, powerful, busy man who never ever had to actually bring up a small child in person--What would he know, about this kind of thing?"
What would he know, what would he care, Dumbledore with his blind spots big enought to fit the entire Hogwarts grounds in?
"Which is where we come in, Mrs Dursley."
Setsuna nodded to Haruka, who took out a shining silver-and-black bracelet.
"...Ahh, that...?"
"This is something to, hmm, make those inconvenient magical outbursts less common, so to speak. Here, Harry?"
"...Oh."
Petunia mumbled.
"I mean, that's nice, but...what's it going to do to him?"
"Ahh. It "soakes up" the excess magical energies generated without interfering with the magical channels themselves, so to speak."
"Oh..."
Petunia blinked.
"...It---You can make him normal?"
Setsuna blinked at the sudden painful hope in Petunia's words.
"Normal--I'm afraid not, not in the way you mean, I think. I mean, being magical is normal for him, and trying to block that wouldn't be... good for him at all, I'm afraid..."
"...Oh."
Petunia seemed to deflate.
"Oh, right. You folk--I mean, you're that kind of people, too, I suppose... I mean. Magical."
...Well, sort of. Setusna didn't think trying to explain all the nitty-gritty was especially wise nor necessary at this point.
"Alright. So this stops him from breaking stuff and freezing stuff when he's calling for Lily and having temper tantrums, and floating up to the ceiling and stuff?"
"..That's the idea, yes. What it doesn't stop is the fast healing and the "bounce-away" factor, and that kind of thing, so you don't have to worry about him running into the highway or falling from high places too much. Not that letting him do that would be a good idea, but..."
"Oh, of course not."
Petunia sniffed, and wiped her nose again.
"...Oh. So that's why Lily didn't even have a bruise on her when she ran into that truck."
"--Magical people are usually quite--hard to hurt, true."
"Hmmm. Alright. ...Is this one of those things that wouldn't come off, once you put them on?"
"--Well, it wouldn't be a good idea for him to be able to take it off whenever he wanted to make a big mess having TT's, I don't think...?"
"Well, yes, but--"
Haruka moved over and tapped Setsuna's shoulder.
"We could "key" it so you'd be able to take it off if you really had too, Mrs Dursley. I mean, if that's what you want?"
"...That...sounds like a good idea."
"OK, then."
Setsuna sighed. Well OK, so it wasn't all that bad an idea, but...
(Haruka. I thought you were going to let me handle this?)
(Nyaa, nyaa, nyaah...)
