Glad she still had some time, Ino took out a small compact mirror to look herself over. A small bruise marred her right cheek and her ponytail had become a little disorganized, but it wasn’t anything too major; at least Sakura hadn’t left her with a black eye or something worse. Ino hated to admit it, but little Sakura was starting to catch-up with her.
But that was a worry for another time. Right now, she needed to revel in her victory. She looked over to the most attractive ninja in the history of the academy and let out a sigh. Okay, so maybe he wasn’t the highest scoring ninja in the class like Sasuke, and didn’t have anything in the way of fashion sense, the guy was still wearing the old and overdone ninja suit that it seemed every generic ninja did under a dark green jacket with long baggy sleeves.
Other than that one small thing, Kurama was just so cool! He did what he wanted, when he wanted, no matter what anyone said or thought, and didn’t need anyone else. Well, that last part was a little sad since it probably came from the fact that his parents were long dead and every parent in the village forbid their children from spending any time with the boy that they absolutely didn’t have to for some reason Ino could never find out. But that just gave him the forbidden fruit appeal that Sasuke didn’t have.
“Alright let’s get started,” Iruka said as the last of the girls crawled in from the hallway to find a seat. “As you all know today is your final exam, and as most of you already know, if you fail this exam then you will not graduate to full fledged ninja.” Although in reality, the test was simply there to determine what students had the potential to become actual ninjas, the real final exam would be held later by a different, higher ranked ninja, and had little to do with actual skill level. “So, when I call your name, please come with me to one of the private examination rooms in the back, and we’ll start with… Sakura Haruno.”
And so the final exam for the Leaf Village Academy began. One by one the students were called out of their normal classroom to a private and soundproof testing area. When they came back, some were happy, others disappointed, and a few were just confused over the fact their final exam was so easy. The process continued until the teacher came to the star of our tale.
“Kurama Uzamaki… Kurama… HEY WAKE UP!”
“I am,” the boy with his head down on the desk replied.
Iruka scowled at the class troublemaker’s antics. “Well then get down here and report for your final exam!” the teacher shouted.
Taking his sweet time, the demon slowly sat up in his seat and let out a bored sigh. For a moment he simply considered telling the stupid human to piss off, but that would just cause a bigger hassle than his stupid little test. Kurama hated being told what to do, especially by such inferior beings. It was times like that he would do the task assigned really half-assed or completely improper just to go against the instructor. Hell, the only reason he was even here was because the people of the village didn’t have anywhere else to put him. But unfortunately, because he had actually had even the slightest bit of ninja training, just taking off would cause an even bigger annoyance to come up.
“Are you coming or not?” Iruka demanded. Oh right, the human wanted him to do something. Well, Kurama supposed that all this stupid training hadn’t been a total loss.
Walking down the steps at his own pace, Kurama headed towards yet another pointless examination. Maybe staying in bed today would have been better.
