Text-Based Yu-Gi-Oh GX: The Message [Episode 156238]

by Yasanagi

The answer is 'therein' I believe.

The answer is accepted and you now have access to the file. Kudos for picking out the puzzle answer quickly. For solving the puzzle without using a game cheat, you get a 500 DP bonus.

Actually, I just quickly Googled it. But getting money for solving puzzles seems sweet. Anyways, what's with the file?

It appears to be a simple media file with the file name being NEGI. Your computer's virus scan shows no traces of malicious bugs and stuff like that so it seems to be safe.

Then open the file, make sure my computer's sound system is on (but toned down) and let's see what it says.

Your computer's media player program opens up the file and you hear a cheery adult male voice call out to you. "Negi! I'm glad that you were able to get this message. I'm not sure if you remember me and if you actually did remember me, I would be surprised!"

The hell??

"Just in case you're wondering who I am, Sanders is the name and I'm an old friend of your father's. You can say that we go a long way back. I know you probably have a lot of questions but hopefully, I'll be able to answer them with what I'm about to say. Inside the black box is your father's Spellcaster deck which has a mix of old and new cards. With the recent strange activity going on, you'll probably need this deck."

How does he know?

"I'll try to be brief but I doubt it can be avoided. Especially with what your father and I have been working on. During the last several years, there were many cases of unexplained phenomena surrounding the Duel Monsters game. Your father and myself wanted to try and get some answers. We were able to find some information about the history of the game beyond what Pegasus created but we also found something disturbing. We found evidence of an underground world that is hidden within the realm where the Duel Monsters themselves live. And that world is ruled by powerful evil forces. You're probably thinking how the hell Duel Monsters are real. To give you the short version, earlier civilizations had used spirit monsters to do battle with each other and those spirit monsters are the monster cards you see today."

A sigh was heard as the tale continued. "Clearly this is something that's a bit too over our heads. I wanted to drop this but your father insisted on pressing forward. One day... when we were separated and looking around one of the Pharaoh's tombs in Egypt, I heard your father scream in terror. By the time I got to where he was, his deck was all that was left of him. This happened just about a year ago. When I picked up your father's deck, I promised myself that I would keep an eye out for you and make sure that you grow up to be a fine young man. I was pleased to see that you started out well in Duel Academy but when my sources told me of the phenomena occurring at your school, I sent this package to you right away."

Still... the phenomena only occurred last night. How could he have recorded that message and sent it over quickly? Some sort of express courier service or is there more to it?

"As for the combination, I'll give you the riddle that you need to solve to obtain it."

Son of a bitch!!

"If a third of six is three, what would half of twenty be?"

ARGH!!

"I know that you'll be able to solve this one quickly. Take care!" The message ends, leaving you with a puzzle to solve in order to get your father's deck.

Crap... I don't suppose you can give me a hint, can you?

The only clue I got is that the question is worded this way to confuse you but you shouldn't focus on how three would be a third of six in this case. That's all the help I can give you.

Bloody hell...
