Instead, he was having to walk away without anything to show for it than yet another instance of failure. The odd part was that it did seem to be working, though there was a definite absence of any effect on her. Rather, she seemed to be able to ignore whatever his statuette was trying to do to her, which just didn't seem to fit. In fact, it even seemed to somehow manage to work on Saotome's girl side even when it didn't work on the girl that he wanted. He couldn't be certain of that, but there had been something happening at that moment. Of that he was sure, but he hadn't had any time to see how he could fix this odd development. If nothing else, he needed help from somewhere to make his plans continue.
When he realized that, he came to a sudden stop and let his eyes go wide. He knew that the only way that he could manage the work that would go into realizing his fantasies was to get someone to assist him. Of course, there was the problem of getting that help, considering the trouble that he'd have to go through to get it. On the one hand, he could always try to manipulate someone into helping him, but he would never be certain that the person would stay on his side if something came up. The statuette could be used to guarantee him the services of someone, but it would have to be a girl, since the female gender would be the only one's susceptible to his power.
Pondering his situation, he started walking again, planning on making sure that the next time that he approached Akane, he'd succeed in getting her for himself.
And then he noticed that he was late to class, leaving him to run back to the room in the hopes that the teacher would not be biting his head off.
Normally when Takewaki Kuno woke up, it was from a very vivid dream, which usually included his victory over his enemies, the welcoming embraces of Akane Tendo and the pigtailed girl, and the blind adoration of the masses. During the moments between wakefulness and slumber, he'd imagine his two loves attending him, either as nurses in uniforms that were tailored to their charms when he was in the aid office at school, or in more.... private wear when he was in his own bedroom.
This time was different, as there was nothing behind his eyes as he opened them. They were blank, almost as if his thoughts were smoke that had been swirled away for the moment. What they showed reflected the truth though, as he sat up without any thought to it. Rather, he simply moved because he was able to, but not due to any sort of actual work on his part. Reactions could be accomplished, but his mind was so still that it would have been impossible for him to do anything on his own.
