Cold blue radiance flashed from the 'mummy's' eyes.
Hotaru made a little eep noise and fainted.
The Guide screamed as he noticed his gun was missing. Also the hand that had been holding it. The forearm that had been attached to that hand...
The Guide screamed again as he saw the mummy was now shambling closer. Slowly inexorably and oh-so-obviously in what was going to be fatally.
The Guide screamed a third time and began to run.
Professor Tomoe watched as the Guide left, still screaming, and the dusty figure changed to move closer to Hotaru. As he was currently holding his daughter, that meant that he was getting a pretty good view of the figure.
That ancient armor was still in place, and the bindings around him had faded sigils. Something along the line of wards, he supposed. "I think she just fainted."
The figure seemed to acknowledge his presence for the first time, then moved in a brief nod before the figure rose again to look at the door they'd entered through.
With a sinking feeling, Professor Tomoe realized the echoing noises indicated that guide had allies.
The 'mummy' shambled forward, though the Professor thought that he was moving a little faster and more fluidly than before. Well, being bound for hundreds of thousands of years probably had some residual effects.
Gunshots echoed down the corridor. The thunder of a large caliber pistol, the stuttering of some assault rifle, other weapons that the Professor just placed under 'guns' due to not being a particular fan of action or war movies. Screams. Silence.
THAT was the scary part. Not the gunfire, per se. The way one noise after the other abruptly STOPPED. Finally, everything was quiet as a tomb.
Well, realized the Professor, that was certainly appropriate.
The mummy came back down, and the wrappings had largely been removed now, as well as a fair amount of dust.
Professor Tomoe tried to figure out what his next step should be.
