All three crunched the data relayed to them and came to a consensus.
Gendo looked over the display and frowned behind his steepled hands.
"A controlled Third Impact?" asked Fuyutsuki in a low tone.
"In essence, this indicates that the local reality is warping in response to the Angel's attack," agreed Gendo. "This was not foreseen."
"The primary field extends out for a radius of one hundred two point three seven kilometers," said Fuyutsuki. "Though this secondary field..."
"Likely just an acceleration of the primary field, and that appears to cover a mere four kilometer area," said Gendo. "Containing this will be difficult."
"More like impossible," disagreed Fuyutsuki. "The predominant change seems to be foxgirls."
"Why a fox?" asked Gendo, not expecting an answer.
"Possibly some genetic marker," suggested Fuyutsuki.
"There's also a fair number of bunnygirls, a few mousegirls, and a couple of mixes," said Fuyutsuki, trying to figure out a correlation.
"Winged catgirls, robot bunnygirls, and such," said Gendo, reading along with the Vice Commander. "There's something odd about these figures though."
The Wish had been worked out with a lot of enthusiasm and no restraint, but the djinni who were the granting force behind the Wish were more than a little curious. They weren't evil, per se, just fairly inhuman and they would consider human morality and sensibilities to be a little bizarre and inconsistent.
For Shinji's little pets to be largely unremarkable, things had to spread beyond the boundaries of just him and his pets. Such a grouping had to be fairly common.
Which caused some guys a great deal of problem as they suddenly were not of the same gender that they'd been born with.
The crowd of people trapped on the freeways around Moulins were already altered. It would take time normally for the changes to manifest, but the concentrated effect was now striking and the changes accelerated.
"Okay," summed up Ritsuko. "I'm a catgirl who can use my henshin card to become Magical Catgirl Medic Ritsu-chan. Misato is a gynoid or female android who can become Magical Cyber Soldier Misa-chan. Rei is an angel, she turns into Magical Angel Guardian Rei-chan. Asuka is a foxgirl and Maya is a mousegirl."
"Henshin card?" asked Asuka, pulling the thing out of nowhere. "Whoa. So I get to turn into a magic guardian too?"
"I'm guessing all five of us do," said Ritsuko.
"Might as well see what I can do. Magical Miracle Matrix," said Asuka, standing up. "Guardian Power ON!"
Her clothes evaporated as she twirled and posed, then reformed in a different configuration. Asuka the foxgirl became:
