Fortunately for her own stomach, that did not occur.

Instead it was Ranma's mother, who was still named Nodoka, who was the alien partner. Some of her odd tastes and habits now related to the fact that her own ancestry had developed in a far different environment.

Knowing how much it would change things for Ranma, Setsuna checked and discovered that background and his heritage. Looked like Nodoka was:

• of a very minor house of planet Jurai.
• an anthropologist from Vulcan.
• one of the last survivors of a race of warriors not too dissimilar from the Saiyan, if you made allowances for the differing galactic community and the presence of Senshi and such.
• of a catgirl race (there was one shown in the Tenchi Universe series)
• something other than the above choices.
