However, things weren't going to go quite so easy.
The shop that she had found wasn't exactly the sort of place that she had wanted to come in the first place. It was a tiny 'hole in the wall' sort of place where the lighting didn't seem to be bright enough to really shine over the entire place. Shelves filled with all sorts of filled the small space, giving only tiny isles to walk through. Everything seemed to be rather old, and including the proprietor.
He looked like he was just wrinkled and spotted skin over bones, with permanently squinting eyes and a shuffling gait. When he spoke, it was in the same doddering tone, save when he wanted to make a point, which was reinforced by a highly nasal pitch. What clothing he had on was apparently mainly kept there by his movements, and his scraggly grey hair showed more scalp than it hid.
"This is what you want to be getting, young girl?" he asked.
An annoyed expression crossed Akane's features at having her physical maturity doubted, but then she realized that to this guy, any girl below forty was a 'girl'. So she merely nodded back at him. "Yes. Yes, it is."
"Good, good. This Rune will be indeed giving you what you deserve."
"You think so?"
"I know so," the elderly man told her, emphasizing his point by pointing a rail thin finger at her.
"I'm glad. Maybe now I can finally get to do what I have to."
"That is what I hope for as well. Now, what are you waiting for. Take your Rune."
Akane swallowed hard, and reached out to take her Rune, never knowing that it wasn't the one that she had chosen. Rather, that one was still where it had been put when it had been put aside to show others. But as she hadn't noticed that, she wasn't exactly going to get the results that she'd expected from her trip. In fact, she was going to soon discover that what she had gotten was:
