"That is not 'Earth Shattering'," said Miyo finally.
"What do you mean?" asked Akane, glancing at the odd symbol there.
"I'll have to get my books on the subject, but that doesn't look right," said Miyo. "I'm familiar with the more common Runes, and that isn't one of them."
"I'm pretty sure that's the one I indicated," said Akane, uncertainty cropping up in her tone.
"After school, if you'll come over to my house, I'll do the research," said Miyo. "Though something else. See this line here. This doesn't look like a natural break."
"Akane Tendo, you have arrived early? No matter," said Tatewaki Kuno's voice.
Akane had noticed the voice, then felt a flare of pain from her right hand.
Yuka and Sayuri went from concerned to horrified.
Akane's eyes turned RED and her face shifted into a snarl of pure rage. Muscles seemed to writhe and swell everywhere, veins visibly bulged, and the result was not pretty.
Akane whirled towards Kuno, and she GROWLED.
Even Kuno noticed something going on, his quoting of some obscure samurai philosophy trailing off as Akane moved towards him.
She leapt, seeming to blur to the non-martial artists watching. Kuno's bokken shattered as her hand swept through it, and Kuno just barely sidestepped the split-second followup that would have crushed his windpipe.
"Verily I dislike-" managed Kuno, about to say something inane.
Akane didn't give him a chance, she grabbed two handfuls of hair and yanked his head down while swinging one knee up. The cracking sound reverberated through the school yard, which had gone to silent and staring as the beatdown commenced.
This was not a fight. As Akane howled and snapped Kuno's right elbow, there were flinches. As Kuno collapsed and she continued to punch and claw and rip at him, there were many who backed away and considered fleeing. Except would she now notice them if they moved?
Akane crouched down over her fallen foe and howled.
