Gundam Seed - After War: Intruders [Episode 157393]

by Yasanagi

Throughout his life, Narumi Wind had always relied on his instincts to guide his decisions. Those instincts had served him well over the years. During his younger years, those instincts had helped him build up an extremely efficient crew that traveled along a large number of supply routes many times. Those instincts also helped him refine his infamous dried fish recipe (which has a disgusting odour but a unique taste which puts it on par with fresh sushi). Right now, his instincts told him that today would be one of those days where you wished you stayed in bed. Narumi wasn't sure what to make of this but if his instincts said that today would be a bad day, he hoped that they would be wrong. The last time that he was glad that they were wrong was when he thought that young punk who found a mobile suit in Heliopolis was just another lazy bastard who got super lucky.

Turned out that Lowe Gear had an instinct that was almost as sharp as his own which helped save the day when he cut the Junius Seven debris with his 150 metre Gerbera Straight katana to allow it to regain its balance and not drift towards the PLANTs. And recently, he proved it again when he found another mobile suit hidden within GENESIS Alpha. Narumi hated to admit it but he knew that Lowe's instinct would continue to grow by leaps and bounds and that one day, the young man's instinct would be superior to his own. In a way, he looked forward to seeing that happen. After all, he would love to see if Lowe can further improve upon his infamous dried fish recipe (with the first order of business to probably clean up the odour). As Narumi was lost in his thoughts, the radio in his Chimera mobile pod came to life. "Hey, old man! Get your butt moving! We don't have all day!"

"I ain't that old, punk!!" growled Narumi. Although his view screens showed him Red Frame up ahead, he could feel Lowe's cheeky grin penetrate through the mobile suit and straight to him. He shifted his focus back to his Chimera to dig around for anything new around GENESIS Alpha. Currently, he was working alongside Lowe, Kisato and Liam inside an area of the massive base that had been previously used by Ash Gray which hovered around the GENESIS Alpha laser. There were a large number of Junk Techs working on the current GENESIS Alpha job with crews working inside the laser itself and the military base. "This is one of the times I wish I had my old crew together. With the right support staff, we would have finished the entire GENESIS Alpha job by now instead of having to work all the way to early December!"

Liam was the one to address Narumi's statement. "Well, the experience of each individual crew member was needed to help new interns make a smooth transition into the life of a Junk Tech." His Works GINN and Kisato's BuCUE had taken the rear positions of the group. The area that they were working in was the last area to be surveyed in the gigantic military base. To be precise, they were all looking for any oddly placed tiles that may indicate secret passages according to Lowe. After all, that's how he found the other mobile suit in the first place.

Speaking of that tile, Lowe had detected something that was oddly out of place on the east wall. Upon closer inspection, the tile turned out to be a camouflage for an odd looking computer system. "I think I found something!!"

"That's some instinct you got. Lemme take a look," mumbled Narumi as he brought his Chimera up towards where Red Frame's hands were.

"That's the strangest looking interface I've seen!" exclaimed Kisato.

"That interface is a bit before your time, slowpoke. I'm familiar with it since I used it often back when I was starting out as a Junk Tech. Let me handle it." He directed his Chimera's mechanical hand to fiddle around with the control. Within five minutes, he had bypassed the security protocols and had gotten the control to open a hidden passageway large enough for the Chimera to fit through. "I'll be heading in. I'll let you know what I find."

"Whatever's in there, it's technically my discovery since I found the out of place tile!" shouted Lowe. Narumi rolled his eyes before directing his Chimera inside the small passageway. He couldn't really see much so he had to turn on the Chimera's flashlights. As soon as he got on the other side, he saw a grey mobile suit with a pack attached to it being picked up by two black mobile suits that he had never seen before. Their body structure looked similar to the GuAIZ with an altered backpack and additional compartments on the arms. The heads looked somewhat like GINN heads but they weren't quite the same. They also had the head crest of the GuAIZ attached to them.

"The hell?!?" The two black mobile suits glanced at each other as if thinking what to do with the unexpected intruder. One of them lifted up his right arm and opened a compartment filled with missiles ready to launch. "SHIT!!!!" Without wasting time, Narumi bolted from the scene as quickly as possible back where he came from just as the black mobile suit fired a missile.

Just as Narumi exited out of his tiny passageway, part of the wall exploded and revealed the intruder's mobile suits to the Junk Tech group. After the mobile suit who fired the missiles received a smack on the head from its partner, it turned its fire towards another wall so that they could escape with the mobile suit that is in their possession. The other mobile suit fired a flare to blind the Junk Techs before they escaped with their prize. As soon as the flare subsided, Lowe directed Red Frame towards the hole that was made by the intruders and what greeted him was a battlefield. Black mobile suits of various models like the GINN, the CGUE and some new mass produced units were taking on a fleet of Alliance ships and several Strike Daggers that had its forces split between the military base and GENESIS Alpha. The thought that the entire group shared pretty much went along the lines of 'WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!'

The only certainty that Narumi could find in this whole situation was that he definitely wished that his instincts about today being a bad day would be wrong.

Canard settled in the cockpit of his Dreadnought unit and quickly booted up the system. The familiar words of ZAFT's mobile suit operating system popped up...

GENERAL

UNSUBDUED

NUCLEAR

DRIVE

ASSAULT

MODULE

The radio on his unit came to life as the Professor spoke to him. "Canard? Are you aware of our situation?"

"All I know is that a whole bunch of shit hit the fan and the other Junk Techs are caught in the middle, right?" grumbled the pilot of the Dreadnought H.

The Professor nodded. "In a nutshell... yes. I honestly don't know why the Alliance thinks there's still strategic value by securing GENESIS Alpha. The amount of resources to turn it into an advantage from their viewpoint would have to be of gigantic proportions! Of course, the dumbass thought otherwise and... sorry for ranting. In any case, the Junk Techs stuck inside GENESIS Alpha should be fine since that laser is damn hard to destroy. I'm more concerned about the ones stuck at the military base. I need you to go over there and cut open a path for our people to get to safety."

Canard snorted. "That's a tall order to obey... especially with all the fighting going on." He felt his mobile suit move towards the catapult and mechanical hatches helped to attach a red pack to Dreadnought's back.

"I know. That's why I'm authorizing you to use lethal force if a serious threat is posed to our people. I remind you that this is only to be taken as a last resort," said the woman in a hard tone.

He paused at what he was just told. "I thought you Junk Techs are people who don't kill."

"That's true. But even though you joined up with the Junk Guild, you never truly thought of yourself as a Junk Tech first, correct? As far as I know, you always projected yourself as a soldier... at least that's what you want to think of yourself first as you find your lost identity..." Canard's eyes narrowed at her cryptic comments and wondered how much this woman knew about him. "Sorry to bother you with all the chit chat. You've been cleared for launch." The ship's doors have opened for him to enter the battle.

Dreadnought's green optics lit up as Canard prepared for the catapult to throw him into space. "Canard Pars, Dreadnought... launching!!"
