The boy blinked at her, not seeming to understand her.
"I didn't mean to, that is," said Hotaru.
The boy stood, looking around cautiously, then back down at the little girl.
"Uhm, you don't look like a Mummy..." said Hotaru, realizing that the boy had been in something like a sarcophogus with an open lid.
Professor Tomoe slowly climbed down, moving very cautiously around the boy. "So this is what you look like without the armor."
"Papa?" asked Hotaru.
"Klaatu Barada Nikto," tried the Professor, addressing the boy.
The boy blinked.
"Narn Centauri Vorlon?" tried the Professor.
The boy blinked again.
"Live Long and Prosper?" tried the Professor.
The boy glanced at Hotaru, back to the Professor, then seemed to be... confused.
"All your base belong to us?" tried the Professor.
"Papa-san?" asked a confused Hotaru.
"I'm trying to find the right password in order to bypass the security protocol, Hotaru-chan," said the Professor, nodding to his little girl. "Be just a minute."
"Uh huh," said Hotaru, looking even more confused.
"Yabba Dabba Do? R'yleh Cthulhu Hastur? Bing Bang Walla Walla Bing Bang?"
Hotaru looked at the boy, the boy looked at Hotaru.
Hotaru cleared her throat. "Papa. What's a password to bypass the security protocol?"
"Ah," said the Professor. "This boy is the ancient guardian of this site, and I'm trying to figure out the phrase used to keep him from being hostile."
"Oh," said Hotaru. That explained the boy wearing the red and blue weird skinsuit. Hmmm. Moving closer again, Hotaru stuck out her hand. "Hi. I'm Hotaru. Do you want to be friends?"
"Hotaru-chan that could be danger-" said the Professor.
"Sure," said the boy, taking the girl's hand. "Ya got anything to eat?"
The Professor's jaw dropped.
"Unnn," said Hotaru with a nod, rummaging in her pack. "Do you like tuna salad?"
"I'm not sure," said the boy.
"What's your name anyway?" asked Hotaru, pulling out the little thermos jar.
"Don't remember. Get the feeling I've been out for awhile," said the boy.
"Your name is Ranma," translated the Professor, feeling a little left out.
"Oh," said Ranma.
