"Why not? It's better than some things that could happen," said Bastet. "Since it's an automatic defensive mechanism, you don't have to worry about innocents getting hit."
"I suppose that's true," said Ranma after considering that. "It isn't like anyone's going to show up and attack me out of the blue."
The light pulsed. "Oh, and the 'catmaid' thing? Just remember that they really will be maids, as in cute female domestics. I've seen the interior of your apartment, and you could use all the help you can get."
"It's not that bad," said Ranma, looking around.
Hotaru winced, well it wasn't that good either.
Ranma's ears twitched and he looked around his apartment. "What was that?"
Hotaru froze. Eyes wide.
"What was what?" asked the light.
Ranma sniffed the air a few times as he looked around. "It's... nothing."
Hotaru shrank back as she noticed her sempai looking directly at the crack she had open of the closet door.
"Nothing?" asked the light.
"Yeah," said Ranma. "So I'm supposed to take this gun out and zap a few guys. Make a few catboys for the cause?"
"You'll know them when you see them," said the light. "All catboys are going to have increased strength, flexibility, agility, hand/eye coordination, and the usual superpowers you might expect from such. You ARE associating with superheroes after all."
"Yeah, I guess," said Ranma. "Okay, I know what I need to do."
"Until next week then," said the light, fading away to nothingness.
