Shampoo was tending to her new fiance, as her mother suggested. Shampoo sighed as she noticed that Ranma was starting to wake up. Opening his eyes, he jumped up and backed off as he looked at her. "Shampoo, I... what happened?"
"Sorry. You just hit a nerve with my sister and myself. My family doesn't like the idea of people calling women weak," Shampoo said, holding back her emotions with a touch of the Soul of Ice technique. She was still trying to figure out what she was feeling.
"I guess that I'm sorry too. It's just that Pops always said that girls are weaker than boys. He always call me a girl when he thinks that I'm being weak," Ranma explained as he sat down.
"Still why do you want to be engaged to me? I thought that you wanted to kill me?"
"It is the Amazon law that if an amazon woman warrior is defeated by an outsider female, she must hunt that woman down and bring death upon her. If the outsider is male and defeats the amazon woman warrior, she is automatically married to that male. I decided to invoke that rule to protect my sisters..." Shampoo started, but she was interrupted before she could finish the next word.
"So I am so horrible a threat to your sister, you had to take it," Ranma said, showing his displeasure.
"I don't mean to insult you, but I don't have a high opinion of a person who runs from death," Shampoo said, giving her a dark look.
"You were trying to kill me when all I was doing was trying to protect my only family. Why did you have to give me the Kiss of Death in the first place? You could have ask, since it seems that you know Japanese," Ranma's voice starting to rise with frustration. "You think it's fun running from some psycho chick who wants you dead!"
"Psycho Chick!!" Shampoo stressed as she thought about getting ready for combat before remembering Ranma skill. Looking down, she took a deep breath. she looked up at Ranma with her crimson eyes more relaxed. "We both made mistakes that day that have caused ill feelings between us. I don't expect that those feelings will be going away soon."
"However, I am willing to try to keep an open mind while I get to know the real Ranma and ask that you can do the same for me. I don't like the engagement, but we can try to be friends till we figure away out of it," Shampoo said. She knew that there were bad feelings between them, but there were bad feelings between her and Akane as well. That had turned into one her best friendships and strongest rivalry.
'Perhaps if I try it again, I might do the same with Ranma. I might be best if I at least tried to get along with him,' Shampoo thought.
"Alright," Ranma replied. "You might have tried to kill me, but Pops has done worse to me anyways and I still live with him. So what do we do next?" When she heard Ranma's reply, it left her a little confused. But she prepared to show him to his room.
