[Pallet Town: Pallet Laboratory]
"[So, I was out there with Gumdrop, and we could see the Tauros in the other field, and I tell you he was looking at me, but Mary said she was looking at him and I tell you, she might like to think that she's got the best udder in the field, but we all know it's hoof shape that matters and the whole herd knows that my hooves are the best in the field...]"
Ranma nodded, listening to the Miltank chatter with only half an ear as he got the milking done, Nabiki and Ukyou safely stowed in their balls to rest. He smiled a little, as the two had decided to agree on at least one thing as they headed back; since he wasn't really himself by their definition, the contest was null and void.
"[...upper left's a little sore today, I think I'm done, can you tell...]"
Ranma unhooked the Miltank with a nod, and a short thank you, agreeing as the pokémon headed out into the field. The Miltanks had been pleased to find out that he could understand them, and while they tended to go on and on, they seemed to produce more milk when they did.
Making a note on the board that Lollipop's upper left looked a touch red, he idly dug into cleaning out the barn. It was mindless work, but Ranma wanted that for the moment, as he was thinking.
He had read enough that most serious trainers headed out on a training trip to challenge gym owners for badges, and eventually work your way up to the league level. While there were some martial arts around, everything paled in importance to the Pokémon Leagues in this world. Ranma had little doubt that he was probably already the best martial artist on the planet, and with his new ability and his knowledge of fighting...well, the itch was there, if for no other reason than to make Nabiki and Ukyou the best they could be. They did show some promise, and seemed to like to fight.
In fact, if they were fighting other creatures, maybe they wouldn't fight each other so much.
But were they ready for the road yet? That really was the question. Where, and when did a Trainer start?
He pondered this while he shovelled dirty hay and replaced it with clean, and by the time he finished, he had come to a decision.
