Golden Dragon Ball: Legend of the Dragon Balls [Episode 158209]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

After leaving the jeep behind on the main road, it took the group a good twenty minute walk until they reached the small house. “Grandpa, I’m home!” Goku announced as he entered.

Theo blinked looked forward, expecting to meet the boy’s elder...

...And instead found nothing in the small room except for some sparse furniture. “Where’s your grandfather?”

Goku smiled and pointed at the four-starred sphere on a pedestal.

The blonde aura mage looked at the direction Goku pointed and his eyes widened. “The Dragonball!” He said in surprise and a decent amount of relief.

Ignoring the older man completely, the boy turned to Britanny with a smile. “Do you like fish?”

“Yep!” Britanny smiled brightly as they all but ignored Theo. The werecheetah’s tail swayed behind her in happiness.

“Okay! I’ll have dinner ready before you know it!” He really was liking this Britanny so far.

Britanny grinned. Boy, that fish looked tasty. She could really get to like this Goku.

Pretty soon Goku was cooking the fish over the stove, without bothering to gut it or even clean it first. Britanny didn’t mind, feeling that the guts were the best part.

On the other hand, Theo just raised an eyebrow to the boy’s antics. “Uh, Goku? May I ask you a question?”

“Sure!” Goku answered with a smile. It was nice having guests, just like his grandpa used to say.

“Where did you find this Dragon Ball?” Theo asked as he motioned to the golden sphere.

“That was Grandpa’s and he always took good care of it. When he didn’t wake up he turned into it to watch over me.” It was obvious from Goku’s words that he had no idea about what death meant, outside of hunting to eat

Theo frowned seriously as he considered the child’s words. “Goku... I know this is a memento of your grandfather’s, but I must ask... Could I borrow this, if only for a little while?”

Turning his head from his cooking to the older man, Goku blinked his eyes. “You want to take grandpa away?” He couldn’t understand. Theo seemed like a good guy. Why did he want to take his grandpa away?

Hearing THAT proclamation, Britanny blinked her eyes. Why did her father want that orb of Goku's?

“I promise to bring him right back,” Theo told the boy in an assuring tone of voice. “It is of vast importance that I borrow your grandfather.”

The boy stared at Theo for a moment before lowering his head. “ But... If you take him away... I’ll be all alone.”

Britanny frowned not wanting to hurt Goku’s feelings. However, it was then a thought came to her and she spoke up for her father. “Well, I’m not sure why daddy wants your grandpa, but why don’t you come with us?”

“What?” Theo asked, surprised.

Goku blinked his eyes once more as he turned to look at Britanny. “Leave? Where to?”

“Well...” Britanny blinked her eyes. “Come to think of it, I don’t know.” Turning to her father, the young girl asked, “Daddy, where are we going? And why do we need the ‘Dragon Ball’ anyway?”

Theo sighed. It looked like there was no getting out of this now. He just mentally prayed that this wouldn’t get Brit’s hopes up for nothing.

Reaching into the pocket of his mage suit, (one which happened to be a pocket of holding) Theo pulled out two very similar amber-colored spheres with red stars, one with two, the other five.

“Woah! Two more grandpas!” Goku cried out in surprise. There was enough grandpa for everybody!

Britanny blinked her eyes in surprise at the revelation. "You got more, Daddy! How’s that possible?”

Theo nodded his head. “I had gotten the first one from a Witch at the Conclave, a woman named ‘Baba’,” The Arch Mage explained. “She said that there was a legend on Earth concerning these mystical artifacts... When these seven Dragon Balls are gathered together and the chant is made, the Eternal Dragon God Shenlong will appear and grant one wish... Any wish...”

Britanny’s eyes widened, realizing where this was going. “You want to wish that the curse Grandpa put on mom was taken away?”

“Grandpa never put a curse on anyone!” Goku protested angrily. “He wasn’t a witch!”

“Huh?” Britanny blinked her eyes, and then realized what Goku meant. “No, not your grandpa! My grandpa!”

“Oh?” Turning to look at the Dragon Balls in the adult’s hands, Goku asked, “Which one if your grandpa?” He’d show that mean witch of a grandfather a thing or two!

“Neither, Goku...” Theo sighed. “You see, my father... Britanny’s grandfather... He fell victim to an accident with some experimental magic which corrupted him... Turned him evil... He cursed my wife, Britanny’s mother, so that she is separated from us no matter what. Many of the Conclave members and I have tried to help her, with no positive results...”

The boy with the tail frowned as he considered the older man’s words. “You need grandpa to help?”

Theo nodded. “Yes, please. If that’s all right with you.”

Weighing the man’s words in his head, Goku looked at Theo seriously before answering. “Grandpa always said to help others when they needed it,” He said before smiling brightly. “We’ll both go with you and help!”

Theo let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. “Thank you Goku.”

Perking up at the boy’s proclamation, Britanny smiled. This could be fun after all.

Smiling brightly at realizing how he made these people happy, Goku felt pretty proud of himself. And then his nose twitched as he caught a certain scent. “Dinner is ready!” He proclaimed in excitement.

If possible, Britanny’s grin widened. Yeah, this was DEFINITELY going to be fun!
