Mooncat’s Cradle: Roses and Bluejays [Episode 159651]

by Kwakerjak

Unbeknownst to all involved (save Sailor Pluto—but then, she had been doing her best to keep her involvement to a minimum), the plan Genma and his friend and training partner, Soun Tendo, had come up with to unite the two schools of Anything Goes fit perfectly with all of the timelines that lead to Crystal Tokyo, because it was through these efforts that Artemis and Ranma would meet their charge far sooner than Pluto could have ever done—in her mind, it was yet another example of how destiny was often capable of handling things without her help. In fact, if she didn’t know any better (and unlike most of her predecessors, this Pluto was honest enough with herself to admit that she really didn’t know any better), she would think that her blunder with the Neko-ken was as destined as anything else in the universe—though line of reasoning certainly didn’t let her off the hook in any sense.

For his part, Soun could barely contain his excitement—he had just gotten the postcard from his friend yesterday announcing his impending arrival with his son and heir, Ranma Saotome, and according to that same postcard, they would be arriving at the Tendo compound sometime today. At last, the schools will be joined, and perhaps Anything Goes can finally reclaim some of the honor it lost due to the antics of the Master. But the less Anything Goes was associated with… the Master… the better off it would be. That’s why he and Genma had come up with this scheme to “split” the school, and then rejoin it as “The Combined School of Anything Goes Martial Arts,” as distinct from the original school. It wasn’t all smoke and mirrors, mind you; he and Genma really did take radically different approaches to… the Master’s… teachings, and it’s fair to say the two of them could very well have split Anything Goes regardless of the status of… the Master… among decent human beings. Still, their dream had almost come to fruition; soon, Anything Goes would be distanced enough from its originator to allow both the Tendo and Saotome clans to begin rebuilding the honor lost under the tutelage of… the Master.

But though he didn’t know it, Soun’s concerns about the honor of the Tendo clan would take care of themselves, because it just so happened that one of the women in his household was a reincarnation of a noble of the Silver Millennium—the Crown Princess of Venus, in fact. And that woman was none other than…
