Sailor Pluto was intimately familiar with Murphy’s Law, which was neither originally observed by Murphy (incidentally, “If anything can go wrong, it will” is a misquote), nor is it a law in the scientific sense of the word (whenever someone attempts to prove otherwise, something inevitably happens to invalidate that proof). As far as she was concerned, it was her predecessors’ failure to acknowledge the simple truth of this admittedly cynical maxim that lead to their downfalls, which was why she made it one of the key principles by which she operated in her capacity as the Guardian of Time. If you plan on things going wrong, you won’t be surprised when they do, and thus you are better equipped to resist the urge to needlessly meddle with the temporal flux, which, as has been noted, rarely has a desirable outcome.
Thus, she wasn’t really surprised when she returned to the Time Gates and discovered that, for whatever reason, the timestream had shifted and Ranma and Artemis would no longer be advising Sailor Venus, at least not directly. No, she was so totally and utterly shocked by this change in the course of the timestream, that she actually fainted on the spot. But the point is, she really shouldn’t have been.
Fortunately, she recovered relatively quickly—which was a good thing, since she was going to have to come up with a new set of plans to deal with this shift, and that’s rather difficult to do when one is unconscious. Still, she never would have expected that Ranma and Artemis would end up advising this particular Senshi:
