Coupled Union - Combined Schools: A Family Meal [Episode 159799]

by Kender

It was a meal that was a wonderful family affair, meant for a celebration, which was certainly what was going on there. Kasumi had set a table that was filled with dishes that were excellent, with several of them being favorites of her sister and Ranma. The married couple sat together, blushing and looking rather in love with each other, to the point where Akane was showing Ranma which food that she thought were the best by feeding them to him. That was seen as being cute by her sisters, and his father was rather gleeful at the moment.

Soun was fuming at the scene, as he wasn't sure that things were going as he thought they should. After being ejected from his attempt to chastise his son-in-law, he'd landed in a neighbor's garbage, which hadn't been amusing at all. But by the time he'd gotten back to being conscious, he'd discovered that he was not going to be able to find the boy before dinner. Now he had to sit by and watch the happy couple enjoy the meal, and hoped that he wouldn't have reason to be interfering again.

"Man, ya really cook good stuff, Kasumi," Ranma commented, popping a bit of fish into his mouth.

The eldest Tendo daughter smiled at him. "Why, thank you, Ranma. I'm glad that you like it."

"'Like it'? I love it. Ya are really good in cookin', ya know."

"Of course you'd think so," his wife put in. "She's one of the best cooks around."

"Can't argue with that."

"Oh, you're making me blush...." an embarrassed looking Kasumi replied, doing exactly what she said.

"Come on, sis. You know that you cook well. You really should take more pride in it," Nabiki drawled, jabbing her chopsticks in her elder sister's direction.

"I do take a lot of pride in it...."

"You just don't show it off."

"Oh, but I could never do that."

"Ya really should," her brother in law told her. "I mean, there's gotta be plenty of people who'd think like we do 'bout your cookin'."

"Do you think so?"

"I know so."

Genma patted his belly and grinned. "The boy is right. You really are a wonderful cook. I haven't had this good of a meal in years!"

"Why, thank you!" Kasumi answered, with a demure duck of her head.

"But this is all wonderful."

"How so, old friend?" Soun asked.

"You and I are here together, we have vibrant children, and our promise is fulfilled," his old training partner responded. "What is not to like?"

"Other than the reservations that I have."

"Don't worry about that. I know the boy, and he hasn't done anything untoward. I mean, I've spent the last ten years training him. If I wouldn't know him, who would?"

"Us, since you didn't know that he hadn't already gone and married my sister?" the middle Tendo daughter idly asked.

"Well... uh.... um.... Yes. That was a momentary change, and something that he rushed into."

The Tendo patriarch leaned in towards his friend, and let his face take on an insistent look. "But don't you see. That is a sign of the problem. Just how could he leap into marriage after what had to be a small bit of time? And why would he do something like that?"

"I know my son, Tendo, and I know that he wouldn't do anything that we wouldn't want. Hell, the boy probably carried our packs up to our room like he always does."

Kasumi stopped in the middle of serving up some extra rice to blink at the man in the white gi. "Oh, but he didn't do that."

"He didn't? Why not?"

"Because I had already done it. It just didn't seem to be proper to leave them alone like that."

"That was kind of you. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"This is nice, you know. That's one less chore that we will have to do. Now we will both have it there in our room, as always, without having to worry about carrying it there. Not that it would be a problem for us...." the Saotome patriarch commented.

"That is nice. But your pack and Ranma's aren't in the same room."

"Oh? Why?"

"I put Ranma's pack into Akane's room. He will be staying with her."

"WHAT?!" her father bellowed.

"Is there a problem with that?"

"Of course there is! Do you know how wrong it is to have him just move in on her like that?!"

"Calm down, old friend," Genma soothed. "It's only natural that they'd be sharing a room. They are married, after all."

"But he only just came into my house!"

"I know, but we did expect this, remember?"

"Not in this way."

"Still, it's what we wanted. Besides, it will let them fully be a couple quicker this way."

"She's not supposed to be just accepting boys into her room out of the blue!"

"Father, she is not doing that," Kasumi mentioned softly. "I thought that it was the only right thing to do to have them in the same room."

"And I want him there! He's my husband, and we will sleep in the same room together," Akane said with the solidity of a slab of granite.

"Exactly. Why shouldn't they share a room."

"Or, more importantly, a bed?" Genma suggested.

"URK!"

"What? They do have to sleep, and there's one place to sleep in a bedroom."

"But.... but.... They would be.... He would be up close to her, and would be able to take advantage...."

"You mean...."

"Of course!" Soun barked. "He'd try to do 'this' and 'that' to her, and she won't be able to stop him!"

"Now, Daddy, it sounds like you're thinking that Akane can't fight an unwanted advance off," Nabiki murmured.

"Absolutely! She's my baby girl, and can't handle the advances of a strong boy!"

To that, Akane had a simple answer. With a snarl of anger, she yanked the table up and smashed her father over the head with it.

"Oh my...."

"This is a mess, isn't it?" the portly man said, clearly at a loss to say anything else.

"At least the dinner was almost over anyway...."

"And we know that your sister is a passionate young woman. Aren't you a lucky boy, son?"

"Yeah. 'Lucky'," Ranma parroted absently, as he looked up at his huffing wife, and thanked the heavens that she never seemed to want to show her temper in his direction.

Nabiki held her bowl of food, which she had saved, and smiled the smile of one who was rather satisfied with herself. Picking up some food with her chopsticks, she dropped it into her mouth, and spared her father a wry look. "That he had coming."

There were a few nods at her words, and her father stayed unconscious, while:
