Wet, bedraggled, teeth all bared...
Remus Lupin was not a happy werewolf that day. At all.
Snape sighed. OK, so it wasn't like he didn't know this was coming, sooner or later.
"What are you, a bloody housecat? Put your fur down, Lupin."
"...You...you made me think...think that you really.... aaargh...."
Somewhere in his mind, Snape was aware of Hazama blinking, shrugging, putting his left hand down, and going back to eating breakfast. ...So he did have some kind of back-up magical focus, apart from his wand. Well, it was Hazama, of course.
"...It really was a last-ditch backup plan, Lupin. Neither the Headmaster or myself actually considered using it till..."
Lupin groaned. And sighed.
"...And it would have worked better if even I didn't know, is it now."
"...You're not the only one who didn't, you know. Not even Professor Mcg..."
"But she isn't... Oh, all right, all right, I get it already."
Lupin shook himself, looking more like a wet dog then ever.
Meanwhile, at the table, large eyes were getting even larger.
"...Chen-chei...Who's that?"
How the little red-head could actually speak while making the scrambled eggs disappear like that...
"...Lupin from Gryffindor, if I remember correctly."
"He's ...mmmmmmmmmm."
"Werewolf, probably. Am I right, Lupin?"
Lupin growled. Snape started. No, not a happy wolf here by any means.
"...Hazama. I've heard rumors about what happened to one of Ravenclaw's finest hopes..."
Hazama smiled mirthlessly. Snape groaned. Not now, Lupin...
"Hazama Kuroo, meet Remus Lupin. And visa versa, of course. ...And this is Pinoko, Hazama's...ward."
The little girl pouted.
"I'm notta "ward", I'm..."
"Pi-no-ko..."
"Mmmmmmm. ...Please'tmeecha, Lupin-san. Is he a sensei too?"
"I think so, yes."
"Lupin-sensei, then? I'll make some more breakfast, then!"
Lupin stared at the little figure running past.
"...What in the world is..."
And now it was Hazama's turn to growl.
"...Pinoko. Is. My ward. And assistant. ...Get it?"
"...Alright, Mr Hazama. But I'll put off breakfast till I see the Headmaster in person, if you don't mind, Se-ve-ru-s?"
Snape sighed again, then.
"...Hazama?"
"...Oh, all right. No waking him up if he's asleep, though..."
