Meanwhile, Ranma walked out of the Uuchan's and into the city. "Man, now I can fly, but what else? Nothin's happened lately. What's the point of learning these ultimate techniques if there's no one to use them on? He blasted off, intent on learning how to keep up with his own speed. The people around him paid him no heed. Flying martial artists was new, but they probably all saw it coming anyway.
That is, except for one girl in the area. She stared up in surprise as he flew off into the distance towards some mountains. When she looked around and noticed everyone going about their daily business, She shook it off and stood there, wondering what exactly was going on.
Hours later, Ranma smirked as he finally figured out what it was he needed to do. He dodged trees and other obstacles as he sailed through the air. Now he needed to incorporate his fighting style into flight. That could wait, he decided. He flew down to the Tendo Dojo's Roof and stood up. After all that flying, his energy was spent and he needed to rest. He jumped down and walked into the Tendo Residence, glad for a break. Everyone was home already, and their reactions to his presence varied. When he first walked in, he was questioned by Genma.
"Boy, where have you been? It's late!"
"Practicing a new technique," Ranma started.
"A new technique?" This piqued Genma's interest. "What have you been holding back from your father?" he demanded.
"Nothin' special," He lied. Genma seemed to accept this, but made a mental note to watch the boy later. Ranma frowned. "Hey, where's mom?"
"She's home, but she's on her way back to help Kasumi with dinner," Genma said. "They finished the reconstruction there,"
"Really? When?" He asked.
"Yesterday, didn't you notice she was gone?"
"Yeah...I kinda forgot, though..." He muttered.
"Well, today's my last day here, son," Genma said honestly. "Nodoka wants me to move back in."
"Your last day?"
"That's right. You still need to decide whether or not you're staying," Genma said. "You don't need to decide now. Think about it," Genma insisted. He probably knew Ranma would right away have said he wanted to go home. Ranma nodded and walked away. Genma went back upstairs to resume packing his things.
Kasumi was already in the kitchen, starting a large feast. Ranma decided to take a bath and headed upstairs to get a change of clothes. Akane was watching the Television. Somehow P-Chan had (Miraculously) wandered to the Dojo. She was currently coddling him as they both watched TV. Not too much later, Nodoka showed up. Akane followed her into the kitchen, not to help, but just to watch.
"That was great," Ranma said as he sat down, a look of satisfaction on his face. "Thanks, mom, Kasumi," he added.
Kasumi smiled and Nodoka nodded in approval to his behavior. It was befitting a man to have manners. After a moment of digesting, Soun spoke up.
"Genma and I have an announcement," He started. Genma nodded. Everyone looked up at them, waiting.
"Soun and I are going to take up training Akane, Nabiki, and Kasumi," Genma said. Everyone stared at them for ten seconds, before erupting into mixed reactions.
"No way am I going to start doing that again," Nabiki muttered.
"Really? When!?" Akane was bubbling with excitement.
"Oh my..." Kasumi frowned. Everyone stopped and stared at her. "But will this not make it harder for me to find a husband, father?" she asked.
"We all know who's going marry you, sis," Nabiki said playfully, eliciting a blush from her sister. But who would want to be with me? she thought. Even if I'm not a tough as a brick like Akane, no one would want to go after me, She considered this a lot. Not one of the males at Furinkan had approached her for a romantic relationship. The one night-stands were okay for now, but even she wanted a happy ending.
Ranma was just having a tough time imagining Kasumi keeping up with him and Ryoga, or even Pop. It was just an impossibility in his mind.
"We are also re-opening the Dojo," Soun said. "Ranma will also be training to be a master. So with that, he will need a pupil. Since Akane is the closest to our levels, she will be his student," There was a gleam in their eyes as they plan was suddenly made obvious.
"Wait, wait, hold up! I have to train her?" Ranma slowly looked at Akane, with an incredulous look.
"What's wrong with that?!" Akane asked, surprised. Ranma looked down at his lap, looking quite innocent, twiddling his thumbs, and for once, being smart.
"Nothing. Nothing at all."
Nodoka finally added something to the conversation. "Why all of a sudden do you want to train your daughters, Tendo-kun?" She asked, curiously. Unlike the rest of the family, She didn't have the experience with the two schemers that was necessary to see the obvious plot.
"Well, Ranma leads a dangerous life. His rivals often endanger my family, but he can't always be there to save us," He said. Nodoka seemed to accept this. Ranma sighed. At least the cover-up was believable this time, commendable even.
"Well, when does the training begin?" He asked. Genma and Soun nodded to each other.
"One week from tomorrow," They said. Together. It would be enough time to train with The Master and gain back what they had both lost. Genma also thought that then, He'd show Ranma who was Father and who was Son.
