Seeing the attractive woman standing with the glowing end of her staff pointing in his direction did make for a clear indication that she was not there to wish him well.
"You must not succeed. I will keep you from doing any more. Die, Ranma Saotome," Pluto murmured, and flared her power as she went for the strongest attack that she could in this situation.
That was the moment when the automatic defenses kicked in.
In her rush, Pluto hadn't noticed them, but as the energy levels spiked up, the system registered them as a threat. So, the programmed initial responses were activated, and a quartet of what looked like metal rods with crystals one the end of them glowed just before sending pulses of energy out at her.
Her eyes went wide as the attacks hit her, each of them sending shocks running through her body. They weren't strong enough to seriously injure her, but they were enough stun her senses, and numb her body into being unable to move. With that being the case, metal arms came out and held her off the floor, with her arms and legs pulled far enough away so that she couldn't pull out anything else. But she was too dazed to pay real attention to that, and was stuck hanging limply in her obviously mystical bonds.
Grudgingly, her eyes opened, and she looked first to where her staff lay on the floor before turning her gaze towards the boy in the wheelchair.

"Really. Is that why you set this up to attack me?"
"To be the honest, it wasn't about you. There's always been a possibility that a monster would come after me to get at Hotaru. But I couldn't take the chance that she, or one of her friends might see the need to have a fight in here, so I set up a non-lethal defense. I don't want to hurt her, and the fact of the matter is that sometimes, having the bad guys around to answer questions can help people like the Senshi out."
Pluto scowled at him. "You know, you can't keep me here. I can simply burst out of here and finally get rid of you."
"I wouldn't suggest that you do that?"
"Afraid to die?"
"Worried that you might actually activate the defense system's higher threat settings," he told her with a shrug.
"And what would that be? More zapping?"
"Oh, not at all."
"Really...."
"Yes. You'd get blasted by the devices that would put holes in your head and chest. I theorize that they might be painful in certain situations, but I hope that you understand why I couldn't test that out."
At that moment, Pluto promised herself that she would not be trying to blast her way out of this one.
"Now, the only thing to do is to figure out how to best handle this development," Ranma sighed, while:
