In one way, the whole mess had started because a genie named Mihoshi had granted a wish that was sarcastically made by a girl named Nabiki Tendo.
However- that wish had altered things so that as far as anyone not protected by being at the gates of time was concerned - the various robots had been around for several months for an entirely different reason.
In this rebuilt timeline, a hentai mad scientist named Doctor Wulfgang VonEcchi was working for a yakuza lord known as Kujaku. Said mad scientist combined technology and magic and had come up with something for his boss - a summoning spell run on computer to summon an n-dimensional being and from that creature's knowledge create a nanovirus. A nanobot "virus" that could be used to infect humans and convert them to completely loyal and obedient toys who could then be programmed.
The first experiments had produced not much positive in results, but it was quickly found that females within a certain age range could be safely converted.
Kujaku had heard of Nabiki's activities in the Furinkan district and how the girl was taking over Yakuza practices without consulting him - the local boss. Nabiki was to be the third test subject for the process.
Trying to capture Nabiki they'd ended up with her two sisters as well. Then the other fiancees of one Ranma Saotome. When the Senshi tried to investigate, they found they were in way over their heads. Some fled, those captured were likewise transformed.
Other "heroes" were found, captured, and transformed. When everything would be said and done, the Master Remote would rule them all and Kujaku would be the most powerful crime boss in Tokyo!
Enter Ranma Saotome, Ryouga Hibiki, a few other assorted martial artists, and the remainder of the Senshi teaming up to stop Kujaku and VonEcchi.
Big lab explosion, Kujaku and VonEcchi apparently killed during it (no bodies found) and Ranma had found the Master Remote. Under advice from Nabiki he'd programmed a set of instructions into each of them that would transfer their loyalties from VonEcchi to himself and lock that change. Though if someone else got the remote and had sufficient time, they might be able to unravel the loyalty protocols.
Sailor Pluto pondered how to fix this mess without actually getting into the timestream, since as soon as she did - she'd become absolutely loyal to Ranma and one of his robots.
The best method seemed to be:
