Hotaru was another one. Just so much sweetness, combined with such raw strength - it made her feel a little uneasy.
She at least didn't feel so intimidated with Usagi, whose attempts to follow her father's advice had become predictable both in her gullibility in following that advice and her complete ineptness in the application of any plan.
Going through the dojo and having straightened her clothes, Akane walked directly over to where two fathers were playing shogi. "Dad? Mister Saotome?"
"Oh, Akane, I believe Haruka was looking for you," tried Soun.
"I see," said Akane. "By the way, about what Haruka wanted to see me for?"
"Yes?" said Soun, not turning his gaze from the board.
"I just have one thing to say," said Akane in a soft voice.
"Oh, what's that?" asked Soun, feeling alarms going off in his head.
"Did Haruka get you over those problems already?" asked Genma, unfortunately charging in where prudent men would have been booking trips out of the country.
BOOM!
Ranma looked a little alarmed. "Did the house just shake?"
SMASH! HIT! CRUNCH! KICK! SWING! CHOP!
"It sounds like there's a riot or something going on," said Hotaru, her ears twitching.
"ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHH! MY OWN FATHER!"
Hotaru and Ranma exchanged a glance. "Akane," they said simultaneously.
WHAM! BAM! SLAM!
Ranma considered all the possible actions he could do, and how likely any of them were to do any good. "Hotaru, can ya tell Makoto to get some building supplies?"
Hotaru nodded.
"Good, and see if ya can get Usagi to teleport me to them Gates Of Time thingies, I think Setsuna might be getting into some mischief," said Ranma, thinking that her continued absence did not bode well.
Akane ignored the way Usagi bolted from the closet, and the way Rei unrumpled her own outfit as she moved in a more sedate manner from that closet.
Akane ignored how Hotaru went to Usagi, whispered something in her ear, then went to Makoto. Akane didn't pay much attention to Makoto taking out her measuring tape and that little pad of paper.
Makoto was an expert housekeeper, almost as good as Kasumi in that regard - so in order to not compete in that arena she only cooked when Kasumi wasn't available. Makoto turned out to be good with carpentry and basic construction too - which were awfully handy skills around here.
"I'm going on a training journey," declared Akane.
"MMmurph, mmmeurem moo mung," protested her father. Hotaru kindly pulled the shogi board out of his mouth so he could repeat that a little more intelligibly. POP! "No, you're too young!"
"RANMA went on a ten YEAR training journey," pointed out Akane. "Ryoga's ALWAYS going off on training journeys. Shampoo goes off for training regularly. What about ME? I'm a martial artist too you know!"
Soun proved that Genma wasn't the only one who could put his foot in his mouth. "NO! Akane, you're my delicate little daughter -"
STOMP!
"I'm going," declared Akane, any doubts being cast away.
"Where?" asked Genma, thinking that he'd send Ranma after her.
"I -" Akane realized she had no idea where. "I'm not saying! GoodBYE!"
