Excellent in many ways. There were the vendors. Displays. A number of different, in some cases vintage, aircraft.
There was still a hint of summery warmth, though the nearby Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay kept the seasonal variation from much in the way of extremes.
The breeze was cool enough.
Sailor Pluto was fretting, trying to figure out what she could do.
Usagi, in civilian ID, was pointing out a 'funnel cake' booth and wondering if that might be a lead to investigate.
A set of jets swept up in formation.
Ranma Saotome sipped on a drink and snickered at the martial arts demonstration. Too slow, though THAT guy there was deliberately slowing himself down to match his opponent. HE had the look of a decent fighter, at least. Most of these other guys wouldn't even make for a decent warmup. Against him at least.
One of the Marines checked his watch, seeing how much time he had left on his shift.
Tomo made an annoying remark.
Pluto looked to the right and left rapidly, seeing only mist instead of a solution suddenly appearing.
Rei began scolding Usagi for thinking with her stomach.
The jets separated - peeling off in different directions.
Colonel Guile's eyes narrowed as he spotted one of the guys in the crowd, some snickering kid - but instinct told him that this boy was an experienced fighter. Not in HIS category, of course.
Osaka tried to figure out Tomo's remark and came to a bizarre conclusion.
Pluto decided she had to go into the base, at least that way she would be with the Senshi.
Rei continued scolding Usagi.
The jets looped out, leaving trails behind them.
Colonel Guile and Ranma both looked to the side as a fighter moved forward with the stance indicating a challenge was about to be thrown.
Chiyo-chan tried to explain to Osaka what Tomo's remark had actually meant.
Pluto reconsidered - she had to remain here otherwise there would be no one to defend against the next menace except Uranus and Neptune!
Usagi gave the redeye to Rei, interrupting the scold.
The jets continued looping out.
The challenger posed, her hands coming up to crack knuckles.
An alarm went off on Ami's computer.
Osaka got more confused. Sakaki's hand came up to reassure the iriomote cat whose head was poking out of her handbag.
Pluto tried to weigh the options.
Rei returned the redeye to Usagi. "BiiiiDAH"
Those aboard the jets noticed that their instruments were beginning to go funky.
The challenger opened her mouth to voice the challenge to Colonel Guile.
The world became a flash of white light, a heatless intensity that was a palpable presence nonetheless.
One of the jets finished pulling around and found that the squadron was down to one other plane. Of the others there was no sign, and there was also no Oceana Naval Air Station. Instead there was a large circle where the landscape had changed.
A perfect circle.
Pluto hung her head as her time had run out.
Now all she had to go on as to the fate of the Senshi was the transposed area. It would take her several days of study from that to determine that the Inner Senshi were still in Ocean NAS but that that area was now:
