They might have become lovers and gone on to fight evil, united by their identities as Sailor Senshi and their causes. Except they didn't have the former and the latter were currently pretty divergent. At least - at present.
Three days later, certain that the incriminating photos were destroyed and that the body would never be found, Michiru and Haruka found identical letters in the mail.
Two words on a card, with a photo of them carrying an admittedly suspicious-looking wrapped burden.
Both reached for the phone, hesitated, and stopped. Maybe this was all the mystery person had?
Still, it seemed obvious. This Meiou person had not been working alone.
Genma Saotome was a man on a mission.
Years ago, he and his old buddy Soun had made a promise. They would unite the two schools of Anything Goes Martial Arts with a marriage between their families.
Over the years, Soun had three daughters.
Over the years, Genma had... nothing. No sons. No daughters. No nothing.
Had Setsuna Meiou been available for consultation, she would have been able to point out that the soul of the one who SHOULD have been reincarnated as their son had never departed the LAST life. In fact, he was still around and living in Azabu Juuban, not having incarnated at any point between then and now. Genma did NOT know this.
Genma had used every method known to science and quite a few that ranged from 'unusual' to 'downright quackery' in the attempt to father a child. He'd even gone so far as to find a mistress at one point, since OBVIOUSLY the fault could not lie with him.
Nodoka Saotome, due to various things, had gotten very kinky, but wasn't satisfied because she very much wanted at least one child. Due to current frustration levels, she had gotten to the point where she wanted six - but would settle for one. Two would be better. Three would be still better. Four would be great. So on, so forth.
There came a time when tilting at windmills and chasing rainbows either crossed the line into unreal obsession or lost their luster. Genma was therefore currently exploring OTHER options.
While Nodoka was considering having an affair of her own, and her eye going to non-martial artist types due to her disappointment in Genma's performance, Genma had had a different idea based on a half-heard news story.
This particular idea was that while he couldn't adopt a child officially (the agency had interviewed him and his wife and come to the conclusion that neither was really suitable for the job), he COULD designate an heir to his school of martial arts. He just had to find a suitable student, get them to sign a few (just a formality) documents and then he'd have an heir who could be married off to Tendo's daughter.
The problem was a suitable student. Someone Genma could impress with his own prowess, yet with sufficient promise as to be a credible Heir to the school. Someone with the dedication to the Art coupled with the talent for it, yet gullible enough to be easily tricked.
He'd found one, a Ryoga Hibiki, but the boy was unreliable and didn't show up for the challenge fight.
He'd thought he had a lead on one at one point, but Mamoru Chiba didn't have any interest in the life of a wandering martial artist and insisted he had to work part-time jobs.
Now though, he was investigating one very promising lead. A real fighter by the rumor he was following. That real fighter's name was:
