Slowly he brought his attention back to the reflection in the store window across the street, as if he was studying an opponent he was trying to take by surprise.
She stood a little further away now, her body language indicating fright.
He turned his attention to the area being reflected. Nothing. There was no one there. He tried to find the chi of someone hiding there - or some hint of an invisibility technique being used. Still nothing.
Back to the reflection. She was glancing around now, though obviously still nervous if body language was any indication.
She was also wearing the jogging suit he had disturbed, and that he could clearly still see lying in the street.
Aya Matsumoto. Age 14. Currently deceased, or close enough.
Ranma swallowed nervously, his attention torn between the girl's reflection and the empty space she seemed to occupy.
On one glance, gaze met gaze. Frightened red-brown eyes met equally frightened (though he certainly wouldn't use the term) blue ones.
Lips moved, and though Ranma wasn't particularly skilled at lip-reading, he was able to manage this much.
