Setsuna's Fault: Lost Duch(wo)men in Space (DARK) [Episode 163382]

by Ranger of the Crossover Fiancees

The last thing that a suffocating Ranma Saotome saw was a bright flash of light...and then nothing else for a very long time.

There had been no time to think, no time to plan, only an instinctive reaction buffered by a spike of pure adrenaline fueled panic.

Usagi Tsukino saw those around her starting to die and poured everything she had into her Crystal, her only thought to keep them alive and safe no matter the cost to herself.

A blinding white light spread out and engulfed the entire island, spreading out beyond the beach and into the quickly freezing sea water, capturing the girls plus one between one moment and the next, like insects trapped in amber. One tick of the clock between life and a horribly messy death.

Had Mercury and the other Sailor Senshi there not been caught in that same rushed attempt, they probably would have applauded their leader's initiative. But unfortunately they too were frozen, statues caught in stasis.

And it was almost an entirely successful effort.

Almost.

An object in motion tends to remain in motion unless acted upon by another outside force.

The plane had been making a slight course correction at the moment of the time slip. In the normal course of things, this would have meant nothing at all. In this case, it was one with fatal consequences.

Without an atmosphere and gravity to slow it down, the plane continued past the island, past the light that engulfed the expiring lives on it, past their last chance for survival.

Death did not come quickly. The structural integrity of the plane held for a few endless moments just long enough for the pilots and those passengers next to the windows to realize their doom. And then with an agonizing shriek of metal coming apart, the Void was upon them all.

Mamoru Chiba tried to call on the Earth's power to shield himself in those final moments but the connection was silent. Setsuna had planned this too well, not wanting to take any chance that evidence of this 'cleansing' would ever be discovered by Serenity or any future descendents of the Imperial Line.

Cut off from the power of his home, Chiba could only curse this cruel twist of Fate before his body suffered explosive decompression along with most of the other passengers on the plane.

Time passed.

Awareness returned to Ranma.

He was still alive. Looking around revealed that he was not alone either. It looked like everyone he'd been watching before the world went crazy was still here as well and waking up. Though it looked like those Sailor Girls were still all out cold.

But where were they now?
