Great Will - Retro: Same Year, Different World [Episode 164379]

His plan had been simple, and Genma had been certain that it would work. All that he would need would be a single chance at it, and he would get all that he had wanted from it. So, he found an old house in the woods, and had prepared everything so that he could use the scroll. He had chanted the words written upon it, and when the glowing started, he had felt that his moment was coming, and that taking this path would be giving him some sort of welcome benefits. After the life that he'd led, he'd thought that he'd seen the worst that the universe had to offer, and was happy that he was going to get a great joy in his life.

When Genma Saotome finally landed after having been spit out of the portal that he'd created, he pushed himself off the ground with limbs that wouldn't stop shaking.

There had been Things out between one world and the next. They were creatures of so many shapes and sizes that he could never have hoped to notice them all. Beings of Power, ancient and strong, had shown him his place in the cosmos. And those eyes had nearly driven him mad....

He was not doing that any time soon.

"Papa?" Ranma asked as he stepped over to his father's side. "Are you okay?"

Genma snapped up to a standing position. "I am perfectly fine! Great even!"

"Good.... I was thinkin' that ya were scared...."

"Me? No.... I never learn to be truly afraid of anything."

"That's good, right?" the little boy asked.

"Yes, that is."

"Are we going to do it again?"

"NO!" came his father's automatic yelp of dismay.

"We're not? Then what are we gonna do?"

"We are going to do what we always do, Ranma. Try and make you into the world's best martial artist."

"Cool!"

"Very. And to do that we have to get...." Genma began right before he looked past the trees to the road near them. It wasn't so much the sight of a simple street that made him stop, so much as it was the vehicle on it. Instead of the car that he expected, there was some sort of floating thing going along on what seemed to be jets of air.

And beyond that was a city where buildings built with the size of skyscrapers, but the asthetics of traditional Chinese architecture were in place of the towers of steel and glass.

"What is going on here?" the elder Saotome muttered to himself, while:
