Setsuna's New Life: Motherly Thoughts [Episode 165873]

by Kender

Setsuna was rather interested to start with the idea of Kumori Mizuno being a Senshi, as it made for an odd little situation. Not only did it mean that she was no longer going to be without some sort of defense should an enemy want to attack her, but she was actually able to put up some sort of fight as a Senshi.

But what really intrigued her was what she saw when she 'looked over the doctor's shoulder'.

In one hand, Kumori held the results from her daughter's latest test, and she knew that what they showed was very important. This could mean a lot as part of her future options, and it was proof of the effort that her only child put in to the work that she did. Nothing could lessen her love for her daughter, which was complete, but this just brought up the pride that she felt ever so much more.

Of course, most parents would not be this supportive about a score on a math test, but she'd never subscribed to the idea of hounding children to attain perfection at all times.

Not that Ami would needed much 'pushing' to do well with what she was doing. There weren't many girls who were like her little girl, and she couldn't have more respect for her daughter. After all, when Ami had first manifested her powers, there had never been any thought of using them for anything but helping people. Other individuals in her situation might have tried fooling around with their powers, or using them to their own advantage. But Ami had immediately denied that sort of behavior, and had set out to put herself in the support and defense of the civilian populace.

"I wish that I could claim that it was all my doing, but she's such a special and caring girl," Doctor Mizuno whispered wistfully. "I know that she's going to keep on making me proud in her acts as 'Sailor Mercury'...."

One of Setsuna's brows raised, and she mused over the idea that one of the parents of the Senshi that she knew wanted that particular girl to be in that sort of service. Others might have been worried about that sort of role for a teenaged girl, but it seemed that Ami's mother understood an underlying reason for acting as a 'Senshi'. But then she was a Senshi herself, which did help in that regard.

Still, it was going to be a bit of a problem to figure out how to handle this situation. There were a lot of magical forces in play now, and to be honest, she wasn't sure of what to do with all of them. Sure, the 'Death Knights' were not a good thing, but before the changing of the world, there hadn't been all that many Senshi around. And she wasn't too sure that the idea of turning a happy go lucky school girl like Usagi Tsukino into the ruler of a crystal based version of Japan's capital city was going to go over completely smoothly.

This was going to be something that was going to be needing a deft hand in handling, as she recognized that miscommunication could go badly wrong. Heck, even the idea of Japan getting a place of wonder and great power over other countries might not go down all that well. At least there were more Senshi to defend the innocent now, and she looked over them to see who she might have work with.

It was when she saw one particular Senshi that her jaw hung open.

Nodoka Saotome was not just a tradition woman with a particular set of... 'ideas' about masculine behavior. She was now 'Sailor Taurus', who was also a Captain in the JSDF. This was a woman who was the image of a dignified lady... even when she was about to face off with a difficult enemy.

Her desire for her son to be 'manly' hadn't changed though. When one had such a storied and amazing family line, there was little reason to not want the line to continue. Why, there had been Nobuto Saotome who had fought during the Sengoku era with a sword that had been known to cut through entire squads with a single slice. Matsuri Saotome had been a revered healer during the Meiji Restoration. And there had been Yuuchiro Saotome, who had been a fierce fighter, but had always fought nobly during the Russo-Japanese war.

With those people being part of their family line, Nodoka knew that it was important for her son to continue it on, and to bring the clan more honor.

Then again, she was also a mother who wanted grandchildren, and wanted to see her baby boy in a happy relationship with a lovely young woman. Sure, he could, and should, sow his wild oats, but in the end, there would be nothing more that she would ask than to see him married, and having a family of his own.

Right then, Setsuna wondered if it might not be better if some people really did change from who they were when a timeline shifted. Shaking her head, she pushed that idea off to the side, and decided that she would turn her attention to more important things. This new direction of things would not simply stop because she wanted to look it over, even if she had the Time Gate at her disposal.

Pursing her lips, she looked over what was going on, and saw that:
