Yet the scene persisted in stubborn refute.
The thickly bodied figure, landed on the other side of the crab-monster as delicately as a snowflake. Light danced along the edge of his drawn katana, hanging for a brief moment on the tip.
The crab-monster turned, raising claws menacingly before it abruptly came apart in twelve large straight-edged chunks.
"Once again, I have cut an unworthy opponent," said Genma, straightening and looking fairly serious.
"Samurai Pisces!" breathed one of the stall-owners nearby. "It is a great honor."
"I don't know about that," replied Genma.
"I must repay you!" said the stall-owner. "You saved my life and my livelihood."
"This was hardly a workout for me," complained Genma. Growrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr argued Genma's stomach.
The noodle cook held up a tray with an extra large beef ramen.
Well, Genma thought, he couldn't exactly turn the poor guy down, could he?
Sailor Pluto fretted. Where was Her Tormentor in all this? If Genma was different, and Nodoka was different, how could Ranma be otherwise?
Sure enough, there was Ranma - and it looked like he was...
"Hi, I'm Ryoga Hibiki."
"Ranma Saotome," said the other youth as the ship seemed to leap from wave to wave.
"This your first time?" asked Ryoga.
"First time to go for a Hunters' license? Yup," said Ranma. "What's your juice?"
"Martial artist," said Ryoga. "You?"
"I practice a bit of that Art," admitted Ranma.
"Hmmm. What of the others?" asked Ryoga.
"Don't know anyone else," admitted Ranma, casually reaching out and grabbing one of the other passengers before he could fly over the rail into the raging scene. "You?"
"I've only met a couple," said Ryoga, whipping out a belt to lasso around the leg of another contestant before that one could be lost at sea.
"Hope something interesting happens on this trip," said Ranma as the ship spun around in midair before landing on the crest of the next wave.
"I don't know, I kind of hope it stays boring," said Ryoga. Then he rubbed the back of his head. "Knock wood."
Setsuna's eyes widened as she realized:
