It didn't take them long to find the frozen Esper, once they were done with the snail. The ice-encased figure was actually easy to find after that.
Biggs smirked. "Well, there it is. Now lets get it out of here, and we can call this mission a success."
Wedge smiled as well, and approached the Esper... when it began to glow. Seeing this, he immediately retreated.
The Sorceress did not.
Wedge stared as the Sorceress actually began approaching the Esper. "H-hey! What's the matter! You know something we don't?!"
The girl didn't reply as she directed her armor closer to the Esper. As she did, the Esper began glowing brighter and brighter, and pulses of light began to form.
Far in the back, Lina got another bad feeling, and moved bout of the path of the light.
Wedge began to panic as the eerie light continued to shine. "Where's that light coming from?!" He marched his armor next to the Sorceress'. Grabbing at her shoulder, he yelled out, "You better tell me what's going on, girl, or so help me..."
Suddenly the light intensified, and Wedge screamed. When Biggs could see again, neither Wedge, nor his armor, where there anymore. "Hey... Wedge? Where'd you go? Wha... what's happening?! Don't leave me alone!!"
That was the last thing Biggs would ever say, as the light intensified again, and Biggs too, vanished.
Risking a peak, Lina noticed the lack of the Imperial Soldiers, and resolved to stay well away from the glowing Esper.
Meanwhile, the girl just continued to stare at the Esper as pulse after pulse of light cascaded over her.
Suddenly, the ice around the Esper seemed to burn with power, and, as Lina watched, so did the Sorceress. Arcs of lightning formed between them, and Lina could only wonder what was going to happen...
While many things could have happened with that kind of power being thrown around, what did happen was that, a stray bolt of lightning struck the MagiTek armor, causing it to explode, throwing the Sorceress far away from the Esper.
Lina watched as the Esper's glow faded, and then moved over to the unconscious girl. She wasn't any older than Lina herself, really, but was taller, and had green hair.
Lina debated with herself for a moment, before sighing, and picking the girl up. Agent of the Empire or not, she just couldn't leave the girl to the 'tender mercies' of the townsfolk, or to just die in the mines...
