Their freedom had come in the way Akane and Nabiki had both least expected it.
Tatewaki Kuno had saved them.
Of course, he proved himself to be an uncaring idiot in doing so, otherwise it it would have truly shocked the two girls.
Kuno had simply used his connections to look for Akane once she had gone missing. He was apparently well connected enough to find that the three Tendou sisters had been kidnapped and were being worked over to be sold as sex-slaves.
Kuno had not come to save them, but to see if they were worth buying. Akane had been saved that fate at the expense of her ego when Kuno deemed her sullied and unfit for him.
What had actually saved them was the fact that holding a somewhat famous schoolgirl hadn't gone over well with the slaver's higher ups. Questions were already being asked about her and her sister's whereabouts by people other than Kuno, and some of those people scared the Yakuza enough for the girls to be released, grudgingly on the part of their captors.
While the girls had been reunited in their home and thankful for that much, there had been one last horrible blemish on their lives. Their father had already been 'disposed of', leaving the girls all alone in a empty and scary home.
Of course, their own individual experiences had left them changed girls as well.
Akane after all had received more than a mere bruised ego at the hands of Kuno.
