And turned into a puppy. And horse. And a frying pan.
And at long last, into a young girl with brown hair and green eyes.
"...Oh! "Mako-chan"!"
"Kino Makoto" smiled at her friends, then.
"No time long see, people, Lady Athena. I've - well, several of my Avatars have been helping Cosmos's Avatar out, and we're more busy then an one-legged man at an ass-kicking contest, as the old saying goes, but - I've been hearing your folks have been having some fun. Something about a "Annual Canon Mary Sue / Gary Stu Convention"?"
"Well...yeah, that was fun. There was an Usagi-chan there, Y'see..."
Haruka mumbled.
"Ahhh."
Athena cleared her throat.
"Welcome, "Lady Jupiter", or "Kino Makoto", or whatever you prefer to be now..."
"Makoto" grinned.
"Oh, I mise as well be "Kino Makoto", it seems to be the theme tonight, after all. So, people - find anything interesting?"
"Well..." Ami murmured. "We've been trying to go scanning on sheer intuition, for the time being. We've seen lots of interesting things, but we'll still need much more data if we're to figure out just what is causing all those overload of Dark timelines, I'm afraid..."
"It does seem to be something that tends to work subtly rather then overtly, that much we could tell."
Haruka volunteered. Michiru nodded at that.
"Something that keeps pushing in the wrong directions. Or pulling. Maybe. Making bad decisions more likely, maybe?"
They all nodded, at that.
"Hmmm, well, then..."
"Makoto" looked at the scanning mirror.
"Um, Lady Athena? Have you tried scanning your own Timelines, yet?"
The sands were cold, now. As cold as death.
"Come now, brother mine. Don't look so sad."
The voice was cold and taunting.
"Oh, dear. Pink is so not your color..."
"Well, yes."
The dark-haired young man rasped out.
"Well. It would have fit you better."
"Oh, no doubt, brother mine! And even my Shadows seem to agree with you. All except for Shadowdragon's Shadow, that is - but his twin would explain the joke soon enough, I warrant."
So the second Shadowdragon in the black Clothe was blind. It did explain a lot about how they fought, the young man thought.
"I know I still look like a girl, brother mine."
He looked more like their mother then ever, the young man thought.
"And you know what the really weird thing was? The daughter of my Master, she looked just like me. Like we'd be walking together, and all the fisherfolk and the traders would think we're twins or something. Well, she was blonde, and had blue eyes, so the coloring was different, but -"
So his brother had had a friend, even in something that was probably close to Hell on Earth. It figured.
"Alright, so - we've gotten the Dragon, the Cygnus, the Pegasus - And now the Andromeda. Sorry, brother mine -"
Well, so am I, brother. So am I.
"Andromeda" Ikki closed his eyes, flexed his chains. Pink was so not his color, but a Clothe was a Clothe and a Saint was a Saint, thank you very much.
As his younger brother was about to discover.
"Oh! I almost forgot!"
"Phoenix" Shun said happily, insanity lurking at the edge of his words.
"Her name was Esmeralda, you see. My not-really-twin-sister. You would have liked her, I think - I meant to introduce her to you if we ever managed to get off that hellish island. You know, I'm sort of glad Tatsumi was being more of a piece of shit then usual that day and refused to let you be sent to Death Queen in my place, a little anyway. It was hell, but I would have never met her if I'd been sent where you were -"
"And what happened to her?"
Goodbye, little brother -
Shun giggled, then.
"Oh, the Master killed her. His own daughter. Bummer, right?"
Ikki blinked. That wasn't as bad as he expected, actually...
Athena sat in her chair, and choked. What? What?
"OK, so that was a Timeline in which - Tatsumi didn't let Ikki take Shun's place?"
"Seems like it. "Andromeda" Ikki and "Phoenix" Shun, brrrr."
Athena buried her face in her hands. Alright, she knew the Multiverse was a darn big place, but -
