Eventually they'd brought in other bloodlines. Bloodlines that weren't precisely of Earth origin.
There was a hidden village retreat, rumored to be of ninja-demonslayers practicing their ancient arts, and there was the perfectly "normal" oceanside town of Tenmo.
At Misumaru Middle School, a boy named Ranma Saotome met two individuals and had very different relations with both. Ryoga Hibiki immediately fell into the role of Rival Martial Artist. The other was a completely different relationship, and she also served to smooth over some of the hostilities between Ryoga and Ranma. Only some though - because she WAS one of those sore points the two fought over.
Makoto Kino was a sparring partner who was quick to compliment Ranma on his talents and had some respectable strength and speed to her. She was NOT the sort of weak girl his father had always told him about, wasn't particularly argumentitive, and other than occasionally staring at him in a weird fashion seemed sort of like "one of the guys". That she was a great cook merely served to intrigue Ranma all the more. Her deal of lunches for martial arts lessons was seized eagerly by him despite Ryoga's frequent complaints that Ranma couldn't teach her a thing.
Ranma Saotome's presence was easily explained within the setting. His father had heard a rumor about special martial arts techniques, and of the ancient village of demonslayers, and had been interested in his boy learning such things. As for Ryoga, he attended this school because he seemed to find his way to it more often than practically anywhere else. Almost as if someone unseen were guiding him.
Genma quickly figured out that there was a hidden village near Tenmo, somewhere in the mountains. He couldn't find it though.
Ranma didn't find it immediately though, until he followed Makoto one day.
Makoto joined up with her friends, first Ami, then Minako, then Usagi and Rei. Ranma had heard some talk about Usagi and Rei being more than just friends, but he wasn't too sure he understood the comments.
As Sailor Pluto watched, Ranma snuck along behind them - sure something was going on. When the air rippled as if they were walking through water and they vanished, any doubt he might have had vanished with that.
