Being rammed to the floor by telepathic feedback was never fun, and when the feedback in question was from other versions of yourself who were as happy - or not happy - as yourself about the general situation they fond themselves in...
Gaaaaah.
Though it might be worthwhile to try and set up some sort of mutual support group later, she supposed. Though several versions of things like that had come and gone over the ages, in this kind of situation, having some kind of support system seemed to be... prudent.
But that was for later.
Now was for trying to figure out just what kind of world she belonged...
A very large stack of paperwork, which snored.
The dark-haired girl stared, sighed, and very carefully looked around it. Paperwork wasn't supposed to snore, after all.
...Ah, right. There was her commanding officer all right, judged from the uniform and shoes, anyhow. Though how he could actually sleep with all those papers cascading on his head...
"...Noin? What's going on?"
The girl almost jumped. The hell?
"- Stop the ninja act, Merquise. ...Shhhh."
The boy with the shades looked at what she was pointing at, and sighed.
"...Somebody appears to be losing the fight with the paperwork dragon, I see..."
"The worst of it is, half of it isn't even his paperwork."
The person in charge before he took over had been incompetent, too put in the most mildest terms.
The two looked at each other then, and sighed.
"You sort out this side, then?"
"Right."
"...Him?"
"Oh, let him sleep. He wouldn't, otherwise."
The girl looked at the sleeping man, and sighed again.
Sometimes she wished she was just a cadet again, and he was just their Instructor Treize.
Life had been simpler, then.
Setsuna watched, bemused. Hmmmmm?
Now that did feel familiar, somehow... She'd seen something, or something very much like that, in one of the telepathic flashbacks she'd gotten just a half an hour ago, she thought.
Well, OK, then. Let's see if she could get anything else...
A girl with honey-brown hair, still young, in her pink-covered bed, holding a teddy bear.
"I saw a silver-haired knight on a dragon today. ...Well, it wasn't really today, but I don't want to forget it, Millibear."
The bear nodded wisely, in her imagination if no place else.
"And I also saw a boy - with such blue eyes, you know? He looked so sad... I don't want to forget him, either, Milli. Is it true you forget all the really important things when you grow up?"
For that, the stuffed animal had no answer.
"...Miss Relena? Are you all right?"
"I'm sleeeeping, Pargun."
Ooops, she shouldn't have said that.
Not that Pargun would be angry. Or even laugh. He was Pargun, after all.
A boy with cobalt-blue eyes looked at the starry skies.
As did a purple-eyed boy with a braid, and a boy with a bang over one eye, and a small blonde boy. Even the black-haired boy put his book down for a moment, to look at the stars.
Some of them were at Earth and some of them were at the Colonies and some of them were in spaceships, but they all knew that it was time.
Whatever that meant.
Setsuna shook her head, miserably.
Maybe she should call it a day and try scanning another day.
She could feel the power-lines running here and there, but...
Ahh, what the hell.
Time was scarce, she could feel that for some reason, but she still had some leeway.
Not much, but some.
She went to bed, and dreamed of a Crystelline Palace, and a Silver-Gold Queen with buns on her head...
