Lamp Of Belldandy: A Rescue just as Hope is Lost! [Episode 167227]

by Mouse

It is a little-known fact that Saotome Ranma is under twenty-four hour surveillance, his every move recorded and often photographed for use against him by his enemies.

One of the reasons it is little-known is that the Mafuni Defective Agency retained for the task does not have a typo in its trading name. The secretary spent part of her Friday afternoon transcribing reports from Tendo Nabiki onto company paper before her boss delivered them to the Kuno mansion. That Tendo Nabiki, having once been contracted to compile the weekly reports, had started photocopying them and distributing them for her own profit to interested parties (including Kuonji Ukyo, Hibiki Ryoga, Saotome Nodoka, Shan Pu, and Kuno Tatewaki) was perfectly understandable.

Kuno, of course, regarded the receipt of identical data from two sources to be corroborating evidence, if not conclusive proof of the veracity of both accounts.

However, the Agency had a second and more urgent means of contacting him, which they were instructed to use should the target of their observations perform any action which clearly required the immediate intervention of the Blue Thunder. Accordingly, whenever members of the Mafuni family saw Ranma while going about their normal lives, they might contact the deludedheroic young samurai to enable him to intercept the criminal foul sorcerer innocent martial artist before he could further endanger the good people of Nerima start thinking it was a nice, peaceful day. Since this more urgent means of contact was to telephone him on the house line they didn’t often get an answer – since Sasuke spent most of his time shadowing the young master, and most of the rest shadowing the other members of the family, and therefore was rarely home to take the urgent messages.

However, on this occasion, Kuno had been home meditating on the distinctions between the passionate love his Pigtailed Goddess lavished upon him and the more reasoned, but still powerful and all-embracing, ardour he granted her when Sasuke received the report of the young Saotome walking towards the Tendo home with a tall woman dressed in elegant robes. The scion of House Kuno instantly recognised the importance of interceding on behalf of the woman, freeing her of the foul bonds the Sorcerer Saotome had bound her with, and set out directly for the location given in the report.

Which explained why he arrived at the Tendo home some forty minutes later, as the great bronze doors manifested in the living room in front of the daemonically-transformed sorcerer himself. He paused, wisely taking the time to assess this new development, but as Ranma rose, waving his hand in a cheery welcome to the beast-headed creature that obviously ruled the Province of Hell that foul portal gave access to, he drew his courage about him and charged to the rescue of the damsels in thrall to the Sorcerer – nay, the Demon! – and his Hellish Mistress.

“At last thou showest thine true visage before mine eyes, foul daemon! Make peace with thy foul Mistress, for soon thou and she both shall fall before my might, for I am the Blue Thunder, the Champion of Heaven!”
