It hadn't taken her very long to figure out that "Reiyaleh" - who looked more like "Hino Rei" would have looked like the more she looked at her, once she'd gotten used to the differences, she thought - was one of the "Feddie Riha", or "Feddie Rom" to the people who knew her folk as "Romulans". They were Rihannsu who lived in the Federation, and had Federation citizenship more often then not. "Reiyaleh"'s grandfather, who was the old man who'd been talking to her, appeared to be some kind of priest - and yes, there was a definite resemblance with the old man who would have been "Hino Rei"'s grandfather in the old timeline, now that Setsuna thought about it - while her father was a up-and-coming politician on the out-in-the-boondocks planet she lived on, who was a middling fish in a rather small pond, knew it, and was aiming for bigger ponds, fortune willing. OK, that sounded somewhat familiar, too...
So much for "Rei". "Ami", on the other hand...
She was almost identical to the "Mizuno Ami" Setsuna remembered. In appearance, that is.
Setsuna couldn't figure her out at all.
Ahh, well, if she couldn't, then she couldn't. Since "Ami" seemed to be headed for Starfleet Academy on Earth too, she could check her up more thoroughly later on, if there was still need for that, that is, she supposed...
And now...Time for more scanning.
"Lita, Lita, Lita...my bloodworms are dead."
The leathery old Klingon - Setsuna was getting better at identifying species by sight - groaned theatrically.
"How could you do this to mee?"
"Engineer Tostikk, you could eat your bloodworms cooked for once. I wouldn't want to give you food poisoning, after all - and I told you about the latest batch of bloodworms already!"
The Klingon growled.
"Lita Mako..."
The brown-haired girl in a somewhat bulky working suit mock-glared at him.
"That's Culinary Attendant Lita Mako to you, sir. And now, eat. And I mean the vegetables, too. Klingons actually are an omnivorous species, whether you want to admit it or not, sir Engineer sir."
Setsuna watched as the burly Klingon seemed to wilt.
"...And I'll have some of those special pastries ready for you later, sir."
That did seem to cheer him up, Setsuna had to admit.
"Why don't you say that first, woma- ah, you."
And it was at that exact second that the com started to peal.
"Lita Mako, Lita Mako, emergency in Lifelines TT6, paging Lita Mako-"
"Ooops, gotta go. Enjoy your lunch, Engineer."
"Don't be idiotic, woman!"
The girl ran like the wind, the Klingon racing after her.
"Where? Where?"
"Idiot woman, don't tear the walls more then they're torn -"
And Setsuna watched, bemused, as "Lita Mako" did just that. Bare-handed.
And then she simply - stuck her hand in.
Well, well, well.
"Idiot. I thought you wanted to get to that Starfleet Academy of yours in one piece!"
There was a gasp from the other crew - yes, this was a spaceship of some kind, apparently - at that.
"Lita... Lita Mako's going away? Nooooooooo...."
The girl with honey-gold hair sat at her desk, brushing her hair.
"Fifty one, fifty two..."
"Come onn, Minalis, haven't you brushed your hair enough? Let's go!"
"Fifty three, fifty four... Shut up, Art'k. Boy's aren't supposed to be in the girl's dorms, anyway, are they now?"
The big - very big - cat, who was still somewhat recognizable as "Artemis", yawned and sighed. Setsuna could see he had opposable thumbs.
"The chances of us being sexually attracted to each other is sort of mightly slim, Minalis... Come on now, let's go and have some fun. Getting good grades is all and well, but all work and no play is making Minalis a very unbalanced Betazoid, so come, 'kay?"
Minalis sighed. She supposed he was right.
"Alright, alright, let me put away my uniform first... Say Artie, is it true that Commander Emeritus Spock is actually coming here?"
So "Minalis" was a "Betazoid", and even more important, was at the Starfleet Academy already. Hmmm. She even looked quite a bit like "Aino Minako" would have, too.
Now if she could figure out just what Artie was...
And that... "Lita Mako".
Setsuna sighed. And looked at her power readings again.
This was supposed to... make sense?
