Chiyo Mihama sighed a little sigh, which caused Mister Tadakichi to look concerned towards her.
"It's okay," said Chiyo-chan, sending reassurance through their link. "Just a bit nervous."
The large dog seemed to accept that, his tail thumping once against the seat. He looked towards his master again, sensing that she needed to release some emotional burden.
"It'll be fine," said Chiyo-chan. "A new school. New students. We'll get a good view of Earth from the new place."
Mister Tadakichi cocked his head.
"Arthur C Clarke High School," said Chiyo-chan. "I wonder if HE will be there."
Mister Tadakichi wondered if he would be allowed a squeaky-toy. He considered the meeting of various writers and artists in the small-but-growing colony to be of lesser consequence.
"Clarkesville is one of the ring of colonies surrounding the Tranquility Mass Drivers," Chiyo-chan informed her dog. "Then when they started building the Babylon stations, it got bigger. Now its extended into the old mining tunnels and they've started making it a real community. Has farms and everything!"
Mister Tadakichi made a face. Protein paste. Soybeans. Bleah. Good thing they had the fish farms, or he'd practically have starved to death by now. Growing fish and rice together - that at least provided SOME foods that were tolerable.
"I hope I make friends," said Chiyo-chan.
ding ding ding "Clarkesville Station. One minute till arrival."
Chiyo-chan looked across the aisle. "Hey Mister! You forgot your briefcase!"
The figure wearing a long coat, sunglasses, hat, and surgical mask looked back at her, then at his case, then ran.
"What was that about?" asked Chiyo-chan.
Well, she'd just turn the briefcase in at the station.
"Ruf?" asked Mister Tadakichi, aware that someone else on the train was becoming more agitated as Chiyo-chan picked up the abandoned briefcase.

The doors opened silently in a smooth motion, and as she passed the threshold she relaxed as if an invisible weight had been removed from her shoulders.
"Lights to half intensity," said Tessa. "Music."
"I'm steppin' out so you bettah get this party started."
"Kill music," said a wincing Tessa as she flopped down into her chair. "How about something a bit more soft and relaxing?"
The computer was not an AI, but it looked for codewords and fitted them together. Something with violins and a piano began playing, and Tessa was NOT feeling motivated enough to make an effort at identifying it.
The Chinese had launched a probe that was clearly going to intercept the unidentified vehicle now heading in-system. Their path didn't match exactly, but the extra fuel tanks were visible enough to calculate things out.
Messy. That the Chinese ship would be endangered by any missile fired from near-Earth at this point indicated that simply blowing the threat up would immediately go to international incident. While it might fall into sacrificing a few lives to save everyone else, even that distasteful option wasn't possible as there would be all sorts of things demanded later on as payment.
Right now she couldn't do anything official other than pass on the information she had, and oversee work on the Tuatha De Dannan and just the act of not acting was weighing on her. How long before the Hornet Nest (new codeword she'd come up with for the derelict) was disturbed and erupted? Best estimate - just over one month. Even with some of the new engines, the distance from Earth to Jupiter plus the task of matching course and velocity were all time consuming.
She needed to relax, and Tessa decided the best way to do that was-
