From that moment on, everything got pretty chaotic. Ranko ran back and forth between her room and her father's study to plan the evening. In between, she found some time for her piano and violin practice.
Ranma and Nodoka were busy stretching and reforming the house to create enough space for the visitors. Ranma even managed to turn the old wooden stairs into impressive marmoreal stairs.
But there definitely weren't enough support beams, and soon enough, the whole room began shaking. Nodoka tried to stabilize it with a spell, but only managed to do it partly. Then something broke apart, and Rei yelled that the new marble stairs were TILTING. At the same time Makoto yelled that the kitchen roof was collapsing. (Actually, the kitchen was the room that stayed mostly unharmed.)
After Nodoka and Ranma managed to avoid further destruction, Rei came up with an idea: "Take the tables outside on the terrace. There's enough place to sit, and you just have to make sure the weather stays nice."
And so they did it.
In fact, Ranma was a little angry at Rei. Earlier, he had watched her and most of the other griffins sitting near the house, whispering and obviously planning something. It was not the first time the griffins decided to keep something secret from the rest of the family, but Ranma really felt grieved by those actions. After all, the griffins were his sisters, sort of.
Some time later, they were all carrying the tables and chairs outside on the terrace. Minako appeared in the living room door, walking backwards, grasping something with her front paws. When she was coming out a little further, Ranma could see that she was pulling on one end of Ranko's piano. On the other end, Ranko was pulling it in the other direction and was cursing the blonde griffin. "I said, give it back! I need it for my practice!"
Rei, who was carrying another big table, put it down with a loud crash. "GIVE IT TO HER," she yelled. "We need it. You can practice at the academy."
"No, I can't," Ranko shouted back. "I'm helping Pops, that means I can't go to the academy this year."
"Anyway, you let go now," Rei said and slowly trotted towards Ranko.
Ranko didn't look intimidated, even if Rei was bigger than her. "You crude bird," she snarled. "You wanna have your beak bent?"
Nodoka sighed. "I guess I'll have to interfere." And she walked over to them to end this before it turned into a brawl.
Suddenly, Genma came around the corner and looked at the reformed hedges and the terrace. He gasped. "Woman, what have you done?"
"Well, we don't have enough place for every person that will arrive, husband," she replied. "So I had to stretch the place."
"Let me do it," Genma sighed. "Am I the only one in this family with a sense for gardening and aesthetics?"
Only much, much later, they all went to bed, feeling very tired. And the next day, this would continue. Not to mention what they all had to do when the first tours started...
