Clouded Sunset: Ranma Who? [Episode 168375]

by Linnara

As she sat there and tried to calm herself, she wondered, once again, who this Ranma person was. Darn, her poor futon and mattress were going to be in ribbons at this rate. Again. Kasumi had already all-so-sweetly "suggested" that Akane should pay for the next set of beddings out of her allowance...

Why in the world did somebody she'd never met or even heard about in her life have to haunt her dreams like this, for days on end?

...Well, she hadn't, had she? Saotome Ranma. Fighter, idiot, frie - no, he wasn't a friend, he wasn't family surely, then what was he alright, a boyfriend? - well, now she was getting all bothered and upset about somebody who didn't even exist except in her dreams, as far as she knew - but anyway, she wouldn't have forgotten somebody like that, even if she knew him only in passing or when she was little...

Right? - Right?

Darn. How could anybody in her bloody dreams confuse her that much?

Shinnosuke-kun - well, Shinnosuke-kun was real enough, she thought. He'd rescued her from - um, something, when she was little. The rampaging gigantic animals were a bit much, though - who would have thought she had such an imagination?

Well, she was pretty little, she thought - everything must have seemed gigantic to her then.

But wait - hmmmm. Maybe the dreams were an premotion or something? Like, Shinnosuke-kun or his grandfather or both were really in trouble?

Akane hmmm'd to herself. She couldn't really remember just where she'd met Shinnosuke-kun and his grandfather, either - All she could remember was this sort of jungle, and jungles weren't thick on the ground near Tokyo. Maybe Nabiki or Kasumi would know, or her father, for that matter. Surely they'd remember if somebody had gotten hurt protecting her - and Shinnosuke-kun had been, if those were really memories and not just nightmares, that is.

Or maybe not. If Shinnosuke-kun or his grandfather just hadn't told them...

Well, in that case, Shinnosuke-kun couldn't have been hurt too badly, so that was a relief, she supposed.

OK, OK - best make a memo to herself so she wouldn't forget. Not that that was likely with the dreams going on and on, but she might be so bothered about this Ranma-person that checking up on Shinnosuke-kun might just fly out of her mind, especially if she had another dream of the same sort - so.

She wrote "Shinnosuke-kun - Check!" on a post-it, and stuck it on her clock. That way, she'd see it the first thing in the morning.

Though if they were really in trouble, she wondered how useful she could really be. She didn't know the Ranma person, or that Ryou-something - Ahh, Ryouga, maybe? - here in the real world, after all.

Ahh, well, it was unlikely that she'd have to actually deal with the snake-thing - Orochi in the real world either, so -

Anyway - anyway, she had to try to get back to sleep now. She'd lost enough sleep as it was, with all those dreams night after night.

And so Tendo Akane went back to sleep...

And dreamed of a boy who saw her in the bath.
