Most likely she'd be discovered before the tournament began. Oh well.
"So he applied too, huh?" said Sialeeds softly.
"Something wrong, Lady Sialeeds?" asked Kyle.
"Nah. I just found a name that brings back a few memories, that's all." Sialeeds tapped a section of scroll. "See? Gizel Godwin, Lord Godwin's son."
"Oh!" said Miakis, wincing.
"Lady Sialeeds..." said Kyle, also wincing.
"My ex-fiance wants to marry my niece. This'll be awkward," said Sialeeds.
"Fiance?!" gulped Lymseleia. "He's OLD like you?!"
BONK!
"Now THAT she had coming," said Miakis.
"There were no Games involved, Sacred ones at least," said Sialeeds. "It's ancient history. Let's not get all flustered over some petty political match-up from years ago. Besides, we were the ones who called it off. It wouldn't have worked out."
"I've seen Gizel Godwin. Once or twice, at banquets. He looked... well, much better than Euram Barows at least," said Princess Lym, hiding behind her brother and rubbing the crown of her head. "Him and Aunt Sialeeds, huh?" She didn't say anything about how Gizel didn't look THAT old, the little poke she'd gotten on the top of the skull serving as a reminder not to just blurt things out.
"There are a lot of nasty things that hide behind pleasant appearances," said Faroush, seeing the look in Lym's eyes and not trusting it.
"Who're the bookies favoring?" asked Sialeeds of the clerk.
"I-I-I can't say," said the clerk.
"Euram and Gizel have the most money, so it's probably them," said Lyon.
"You never know, some commoner might come out of nowhere and save the day," said Kyle.
Faroush nodded and placed marks by two names. "I'd appreciate it if someone got me some more information on these two."
"Something wrong?" asked the clerk.
"Nah," said Faroush. "Just a feeling I've heard the name before. Something like that."
Miakis went with Lymseleia to her afternoon studies. Sialeeds went off to nap.
Ranma wanted to see the town, and Faroush hadn't just had a day to go shopping in awhile so. "Let's go into town."
"That's a good idea," said Lyon.
"I'll come along," said Kyle. "I've got an idea. Let's check out that new Rune Shop! You heard about the owner? Everybody's saying she's gorgeous! You want to check her out, too, don't you Prince?"
"Not really," said Faroush, thinking he'd had enough girl troubles to last him awhile. He also wondered if Kyle was maybe Daisuke or Hiroshi. Hmmmm.
"But Prince! Your obligation as a Prince is to 'inspect' the land and its citizens right? And the bounties thereof?" Kyle waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"Kyle?" asked Lyon. "The Prince said he's not interested, so don't try to force him."
"Lyon, this is a necessary step in the Prince's growth into manhood." Kyle tried to look innocent.
"Jeez, cut it out already," said Lyon. Then began wondering if there was something to that. What if the Prince wasn't interested in girls? "I give up, let's go and get this over with."
Fifteen minutes later, it was all Lyon could do not to laugh at Kyle's expression.
"Not there, can you believe it. Hmph," said Kyle.
Faroush frowned. He knew the moment he'd gone in there - he'd felt scrutinized. He still felt as if someone was watching him from nearby, not Lyon.
"YOU CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THAT! HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT OUR ROYAL FAMILY LIKE THAT?!"
"Excuse me, I've got to look into this," said Kyle.
"Oh," said Lyon. "You better stay here, Prince. I... Prince? Prince?"
Lyon glanced up and her jaw dropped. There went the Prince, pole vaulting from one roof to the other. "prince?"
Faroush smirked as he saw what was going on. There was a crowd, two groups which had started fighting - one local and one from out-of-town. However both groups were being tossed around by a single figure, which Faroush might not have known but Ranma did. It was-
