Faroush stared at the list. Ranma Saotome stared back, written there black against white. And for the life of him, neither part of his merged personality could find a fault with finding that name there. To Ranma, Lym was just some cute kid who went around and called 'Brother!'. She had to be protected from scum like Euram Barrows who would try to take advantage of her. On that topic, the side of him that was Faroush agreed. He could not even imagine marrying Lymsleia, but was that really necessary? If he could not find a way to free his sister once he won, then all he had to do was go for Plan B -- get a noble Lym approved of and claim they hired him all along. Gladiators fought in lieu of nobles all the time, after all.
And this was a martial arts tournament. Ki or no ki, rune or no rune, there was no way he was missing on that. Hundreds of contestants from several countries would be there, showing off their special moves and fighting their hardest for the prize.... He scowled at the thought, before daydreams of pitting himself against the strongest fighters of this world pulled him back.
"--rince. Prince!"
Someone was calling out for him. Sure sounded like that bodyguard girl, Lyon.
"Were you stunned by this line up, Prince?" Lyon asked him once she had his attention.
Faroush frowned, but before he could respond, Miakis snorted at his side. "I would recognize that longing stare anywhere," she said saucily, bending over the scroll in an attempt to spot where he had been looking just then. "What was it that caught your attention so much amidst all those names, Prince? Was it someone special?" She half-turned to him, smiling widely. "Is that why we haven't heard any rumors of you dating girls in the city, Prince?"
"Miakis!" Lymsleia exclaimed, latching onto Faroush and glaring at her mischievous bodyguard. "How dare you say such things about Brother?!" She glared fiercely, and Miakis raised her arms in surrender, backing off, though that smile was still present on her lips.
"Ranma Saotome," Faroush said suddenly, drawing everyone's attention to him.
"Ranma Saotome?" Sialeeds repeated, crossing her arms as she glanced at her nephew.
Miakis made a grab for the scroll and her eyes darted across it, before lighting up with triumph. "It WAS a name listed here!" she crowed, waving the document around.
Faroush ignored the twin looks of horror on Lym's and Lyon's faces, as well as Miakis's antics, and looked back at Sialeeds. "Ranma Saotome is the best martial artist in the world. The winner has been decided!" he stated with confidence, adding a smirk for good measure.
