Hotaru was sleeping in her new room, tired from her journey.
Usagi looked over her, smiling a bit. She looked so peaceful and innocent. “Goodnight, little one,” she said, as she shut the door to what had been Ranma’s room. He was planning on sleeping in the living room by the fire, so the little girl could have a room to herself. It would be at least another day before they had one of the other rooms ready for someone to stay in.
Oh well, it gives me a chance to .. get to know him better. Smirking, the former princess made her way to the living room to ... inform her Knight of her intentions for the evening.
“So she is safe?” said Souichi Tomoe, known as Tomoe the Black, one of the master sorcerers of the Nerima Kingdom. He had finished placing a protective spell around him, Princess Nabiki, and the two guards who followed her, to ensure they were not scryed for or listened upon by outside forces.
Nabiki nodded. “She is as safe as I can get her.”
Tomoe nodded, a single tear going down his face. “Then her mother can rest well beyond the veil.”
Nabiki nodded. “What has occurred during my leave.”
Tomoe repositioned the glasses on his face as he turned to face her. “Lord Jadeite has requested that the wedding date be moved up to next week. We suspect this may be due in part to their discovery of the complete loss of the Ginzuishou. There have been reports of several explosions around the Castle of the Dark Kingdom, and Lord Jadeite did arrive slightly ... injured.”
Nabiki nodded. “He must have had a hand in the assault on Silvermoon. I wouldn’t be surprised if his current status as living is due only to her plans for our Kingdom.”
“We have less time then,” said Haruka.
Nabiki nodded. “I will go to Father tomorrow and request that we annex Silvermoon. Normally, the invading army would have done that, but that would have required revealing themselves as the attackers.”
“But what will that accomplish?” asked Michiru.
“Simple really, if we annex it, I will go and be the local Regent until things have been established. It may not be much, but it will give us both a place to stage our own troops and allies, as well as a region where the Dark Kingdom may not intrude. If they do admit it, the public outcry will delay the wedding. Even Father wouldn’t be that foolish. It would also severely hurt their efforts to pull in other Kingdoms.”
“They would also see Silvermoon as becoming theirs either way,” finished Tomoe. “It could work.”
Nabiki nodded. “It is what we shall do. Prepare those loyal to me and the ideals of the Kingdom to follow.”
“Should we bring family?” asked Michiru.
“Bring yours only if you can trust them with all your soul,” said Nabiki. “We are playing a game where the slightest mistake can cost all of us our souls. Hell, I won’t even bring my younger sister with us. She is too unpredictable, though I have to make quite certain Father does not send her in our stead.”
Sailor Pluto sighed. Tomoe’s spell had been very good, the Gates only able to give her a grainy glimpse of what had occurred, meaning the enemies would not have seen it at all.
“Things are truly contorted,” she mused. “I only hope I can fix this.”
