Genma picked the kettle off the fire and poured hot water over their instant noodles. It wasn’t the feast they’d had when Genie Saturn had joined them, but she was still recovering from Beryl’s blast. The effort to divert the transformation curse from Ranma had also taken its toll, even though it seemed to have only been partially successful.
“I’m sorry, Ranma,” Saturn explained to the gender-confused little girl. “I can’t undo the spell on you. Beryl used combined her power with Neptune’s to transform you.”
“Gre groulf granf grova ghre gring,” the panda observed insistently. (We should hand over the ring.) It was the obvious thing to do, after all.
“No. I don’t think so, Mr. Saotome,” Saturn responded. “I think she’d just take the ring and leave you as you are. If you were lucky.”
“Yeah, Pops,” Ranma agreed. “She’s not a nice lady. Besides, I couldn’t do that to Saturn!”
“Grhat grelse gran gre groo?” Genma demanded. (What else can we do?)
“I think we should find the rest of the ten warrior Genie,” Saturn suggested and added a carrot. “Genie Moon should be able to undo the curse.”
“Grhen gref’s gro!!” Genma decreed and spilt hot noodles over his son-turned-daughter as he leapt to his feet. (Then let’s go!!)
“Yowie! Hot! Hot! Hot!” Ranma sang as she danced around the camp site.
“I don’t know where to look,” Saturn admitted with a sigh as she leaned back and closed her eyes wearily. “I’m not close enough to sense any. Although, I’m too weak at the moment to tell if I was.”
“Greaf!” Genma sighed as he crouched down and buried his head in his paws. (Great!) This was another fine mess Ranma got him into. If only he’d stayed to finish his training like a man instead of running off to play like a little girl. Look at what that had gotten him: now Nodoka was going to kill them both. Literally!
He glanced at his ‘little girl’ in disgust and turned in. No, a voice told him, there was only one thing to do. He wasn’t an idiot after all. Those two weak little girls would …
