Demon Past: Swords for Sale [Episode 169524]

by The Demented Redhead

Totosai looked at the traveling duo, surprised at the sheer amount of power he could feel coming from them. They had met him on the road, as he was returning to his cave to relax and perhaps try and create a new sword. Perhaps a new bow for Kagome. “So you two want me to make you some weapons to fight demons.”

Ranma scratched behind his pigtail. “Well, anything that’ll help us protect innocents,” he said. “I mean, I know that not all demons are evil.”

“Oh?” asked the elderly man.

“Yeah, I mean, I’ve fought a few, and you seem to be kinda nice for a demon. You ain’t attacked me or anything. Kinda makes you the nicest old guy I know.” Left unsaid was the time he had spent with Nabiki at a fishing village, tending to a hanyou girl who had adopted them as older siblings. When her mother had talked to them about her now dead husband—a demon killed by his own father because he wanted peace with the village—the two were forced to admit that shades of gray existed for demon souls as much as human souls. Both could create evil monsters or grand beings of hope.

“And what demons have you fought before, except what Grandfather Happosai summoned?” asked Nabiki.

“Well, I did fight this one in Juuban District that called itself Impursonator. All it did was destroy, make itself look like other people, and attempt to hurt innocent people, so I had to fight it. I beat it good. But when some magic girls in short skirts showed up, I got the Hell out of there. Knowing my luck, Pops engaged me ta half of them.”

Nabiki giggled a bit. It probably would be true that Uncle Genma had engaged him to honest magic girls.

Totosai looked over them again. Well, it has been a while since I tried to make anything for a normal human. And I could use the company. That is if they can stand living near the volcano. “Very well, I will test you two out first. I don’t need some wannabes out there wielding my stuff and ruining my good name, I’ll have you know.”

As the trio walked off towards Totosai’s home, Nabiki leaned over to Ranma, whispering in the hopes that the old demon wouldn’t hear. “Think the old goat will really help us?”

Ranma shrugged. “Up to him, I guess. I ain’t gonna force him if he decides not to. That is unless he makes us do a bunch of shit for the promise of help, and then backs out.”

Unseen by Nabiki, but not Ranma, Totosai paled. So much for that idea.
