The question fit into the Ranma remainder, who wondered the same thing. The answer from Sailor Prime - that is was always that way and that it was a symbol of a kingdom did not satisfy the others. A dead kingdom relic? No. Something for a modern time was needed. Besides, there were already Sailor Senshi operating here and another variant might be nice.
Alenia protested. The Sailor configuration was stable and upgradeable.
Ranma reminded her it was only a minor Senshi empowerment anyway and time was a-wasting.
It was not generally known, in fact - only Yuka knew out of the entire class of Furinkan, but Sayuri had a particular fascination with a certain manga. Her thought-image was sent to Ranma, Ranma thought it looked better than what Sailor Prime was wearing, and passed it on.
Sayuri's element was drawn from within her, the Starseed resonance made it possible to link her with Gamma Velorum WR (a Wolf-Rayet star in that four-star system) that Alenia knew as 'Safyre'. So Sayuri was (despite her name not having anything to do with either) going to be affiliated with Wind and the color blue. She was not going to be a SAILOR Senshi however, as she was-
