"Soo... what is in those scrolls?" Akane asked causally. She'd been in a moderately good mood since finding out whatever magic it was that created her stone armor had also removed the graffiti from her face. Of course, she was trying not to think about the what would happen when Kasumi came home from the hospital, and Nabiki came back from trying to find a lead on Kuno. Neither of her sisters were amused by her new-found ability to truly live up to her alter-ego's name.
Ranma looked up from the scroll he was reading. "Mostly, junk. This seems to be our fathers' stash of techniques that they made. However, the vast majority of them are like Pop's 'Crouch of the Wild Tiger' or 'Howling Demon Dog' techniques; things that are almost laughable to read. 'Techniques' to placate an opponent, to taunt them, or to run away. Mostly silly ones at that."
Akane looked at the pile of scrolls carelessly tossed behind Ranma. Then she noticed a few scrolls neatly set in front of him. "And those?"
"These are the useful ones. Pop's musta made copies of the Yamasenken and Umisenken scrolls... cause those are there. There are a couple scrolls from your father there that look like they might actually have practical use... but you'll have to ask him 'bout usein' them first."
Akane looked back at the pile. That was four of the scrolls... but there were five laying there. "And the last one?"
Ranma half turned away from Akane. "Pops... he was workin' on something. I can't tell if it's old, or recent, but that last scroll was him trying to work out something called the Tesnsenken."
Akane gasped. The Senken schools Genma had invented were some of the most devastating arts she'd ever seen. It was so strange to think that Genma had come up with them... until one realized that the schools were actually supposed to be methods of Stealing, not combat. Nonetheless, the Senken were powerful already... and there was a third school? "The Thousand Fist Heaven? What kind of thief is that supposed to emulate?"
Ranma shook his head. "None. Pops was definitely working this as a combat school, first and foremost. The Tensenken is supposed to be a fusion of the Yamasenken and Umisenken." Ranma looked Akane right in the eyes. "Imagine it: a fighting style with the offensive power of the Yamasenken, and the defensive and elusive nature of the Umisenken. Someone who knew the Tensenken would be almost unstoppable." Then Ranma closed his eyes and shrugged. "But he never finished it. So far, it's a lot of theory about how to do it, but not anything he found that would work."
"Oh." Akane replied. "So, what are you going to do with them."
Ranma looked at the scrolls for a while. "I'm not going to risk Kuno, or Mousse, or anyone getting someone else killed again. Even if it comes down to taking them out first."
"Ranma?!"
He shook his head. "I'm not going to go in trying to kill them. But I'm not going to let them do anymore damage if I can help it. If it comes down to it... I'll stop them. Permanently."
"You're going to unseal the Senken, aren't you?"
Ranma grinned. "Already did. Ryuu's on his way here... and together, we'll finish Pops Tensenken school."
"Ryuu's coming back?"
"He thinks of Mom like his mother, too, you know. He want's Kuno's hide just as much. I'm not sure if he's gonna stick around after that, but Kuno's going down, Akane. One way, or another."
Akane nodded. That was a statement she thoroughly agreed with.
